jamie, thanks so much for joining us. what are what are you watching for just ahead as this hurricane milton begins to make landfall, was just a couple hours or so from now, what, what's your worst fear? sure well, one of the evolving fears that you can start to see it take place is this really heavy band of rain is going to set up? >> it looks like it's going to set up over or near the i4 corridor. that's basically tampa orlando area. and we're going to see intense rainfall rates that not like a typical well thunderstorm. i'm talking about 34 inches per hour. rainfall rates. and when it falls on concrete, you almost get an instantaneous flood parts of florida as you well know, are already experienced, experiencing this storm surge where are you anticipating? we will see the largest and most dangerous conditions it's going to be, if you look in the radar, you can start to see the southern eyewall is start to become apparent where this southern eyewall crosses, crosses the coastline, which is probably going to be just to t

maria: well, you make a great point, and jamie made a good point as well.ation is hampering growth. all of this regulation is stopping big investors from actually putting new work to -- new money to work and investing. i know you spoke with the citadel securities global macro conference yesterday in new york on these issues, and citadel's ceo, ken griffin, is going to speak later today. did you make these points? what are your takeaways from where we are in the macro story today? >> it was a key conversation on the uncertainty being put out by the u.s. in terms of regulatory policy, in terms of strength or weakness because that's what the world is looking at so much. a key part in, i think, jamie dimon was raising this is you have to have capital going to privatesector businesses in an -- private sector businesses in an efficient way. and, you know, this is a gigantic spending surge by the u.s. government. that just blocks the growth that we need. china feels it, the whole world feels it, and it'd be better for the world to have faster growth out of the u.s

tom: that's an inflation view coming through from jamie dimon. we've had a number of fed speakers, what have they been saying, do we have more clarity? valerie: they are all talking about this balance of risk between inflation and unemployment. many are using this buzz word of balance we heard from jefferson yesterday saying the risk has been roughly brought into balance. we also heard from adriano kugler yesterday talking about this balanced approach. we heard from boston's fed president susan collins, take a listen. susan: looking ahead, preserving the favorable conditions will require adjusting monetary policies so as not to unnecessarily restrain demand. that will require a careful databased approach as we balance the risk. there are risks on both sides. >> this buzz word of balance is catching the markets i because we do not want them to talk about the risk to inflation being in the upside that would dent the equity market. let's look at how equity markets have behaved. we are very close to all-time highs, just a quarter of a percent away. s
