jana katsuyama has the story. >> reporter: this all comes as investigators have listened to the black box. families of the victims walked in a long line. coming together in brief to the mountain where 150 people lost their lives. french investigators say they could hear passenger screams just before the plane crashed into the mountain. >> reporter: we are speechless that this aircraft has been deliberately crashed by the co- pilot. >> reporter: that co-pilot had logged just over 600 hours of flight time. lubis and the captain patrick could be heard talking normally after the plane left in barcelona. the captain asks him to take command of the plane and left the cockpit presumably to use the lavatory. lubitz then set the plane to 1,000 feet. the captain is heard knocking and then pounding on the door increasingly frantic. investigators say it appears lubitz flipped the switch that did not allow the pilot to get back into. police surrounded his family's home in a town in western germany. neighbors say he was calm and low key. a regular jogger who dreamed as a child of becoming a pilot.
