so i thought responded to in washington, janelle do malone. i told him all the supreme court has unanimously rule to allow trump to stay on the ballot for the colorado primary. now of course, this has wide ranging implications. not just for colorado, but this will apply nationwide. we know that there were similar pushes to keep trump off the ballot in the likes of maine and illinois. but basically what this ruling does is that it ends challenges to trumps candidacy. related to section 3 of the 14th amendment. so that's the part of the constitution that bars interaction is from holding office. so the message behind the court's ruling is that so it should not be up to individual states to in for section 3. and, but that could lead to chaos if different states come to different conclusions. rather, they think that it should be up to congress to pass legislation around when section 3 can be involved and how it should be enforced. now. uh, this was quite a long shot argument to make anybody but it was important to clarify before the super tuesday p

i'm janelle wang.g, scott peterson appeared in a courtroom via zoom for a status hearing regarding the los angeles innocent project's request to review his case. kris sanchez was in the courtroom. >> reporter: the hearing lasted just about an hour. there were three different motions at play. scott peterson appeared via zoom in a blue prison uniform. attorneys for the los angeles innocence project and the district attorney's office appeared before the judge. this hearing was to set a schedule for three different motions. both will return to court to discover whether discovery and dna should be sealed. there's another hearing to decide what's next for the additional dna and dna testing the defense is asking for. on july 15th, the judge will make decisions about all non-dna evidence the l.a. innocence project is asking for from the district attorney's office and law enforcement. the l.a. innocence project says they requested this and evidence back in november. the d.a.'s office says they haven't been told

i'm janelle wang. >> and i'm raj mathai. now mechanical issues on a flight headed from australia to san francisco. is the sixth united flight in the past two weeks to encounter problems. next we have nbc bay area owes sergio quintana. >> reporter: just seconds after the flight took to the air video biplane spotter new york aviation got clear images of fluid spewing from the plane. it looks as if it is coming from the rear right landing gear. the crew of the bowling 777 300 jet continued over the ocean before turning around. video for my passenger shows the crew dumping fuel before landing. the plane landed safely back at the airport in sydney and no one was injured. united airlines have been dealing with a series of issues with its flights over the last couple of weeks but this incident in sydney is now the third involving a technical issue with one of its planes in just the last few days. last thursday a wheel fell off a rear landing gear just as a united 777 200 took off from some disco headed to japan.

i'm janelle wang. the south bay has a lot at stake in this election. the latest. >> reporter: voter turnout appears to be lower than we expect during a presidential election year. there are a lot of ballots to count, because a lot of them came in at the last minute. many of us held on to them until the very last minute. they have processed more than 182,000 ballots. election workers are still processing those vote by mail ballots that can come in for the next couple of days. even with that, voter turnout is not expected to break records. the 16th congressional district in which a former san jose mayor and a supervisor appear to take the two top spots, which means they will appear on the november ballot. they made it clear, they are satisfied with the mayor in san jose. he got nearly 90% of the vote. he has been in office for two years. he faced election re-election because san jose opted to align the mayor election with the presidential cycle. many voters may not have turned in their ballots early. they are okay with the vote by mail process. 92% voted
