janet: good morning, tom. thanks for having me. we have been underway bonds for a long time because we think that there is a lot of potential for yields to go up, even at current levels. we don't think bond yields have peaked. we remain underweight on bonds. in terms of the inflation story, we prefer the inflation level bonds. with regards to your question on whether that will [indiscernible] the equity markets, i think not at current levels. what the market is telling you is that they think the economy can accommodate these drivers in interest rates. these markets have suggested the hawkish fed already. unless we see a much sharper rise in bond yields from here, we don't expect the markets will be selling off because of the rise in bonds. tom: what is the level that you are looking at that would be the catalyst, would be the trigger for you to reassess the read across inequities? is there a spread that is of particular focus for you growing -- for you at brewin? janet: if it rises too fast, to quick, it would be a headwind to the

still with us is janet mui. are talking about how heading into this, you had pull back on some of your equity exposure, serving you well. in this environment when we are seeing sky commodity prices, how does your geographic mix look? janet: first of all, we are modestly overweight on our u.k. equities. that has been helpful because we think that's the region benefiting from high-energy prices, given some of the largest and any -- energy companies are listed in the u.k. financials should do well. i think we have good exposure to that. dani: financials even though there's a risk of sanctions impacting russia's financial system? they sold off pretty significantly. still a strong financial future even in that scenario? janet: in terms of the u.k. market, we expect that the exposure to the russian market is actually not significant. it's mainly the european banks, australia, italian, french franc's -- banks that have the most. we have assessed the risks and we are comfortable with that in the u.k. market. to answer y

janet: right.ome investment is not just talking about find the highest paying stocks. there are also many different sectors that we can choose from for income strategy. actually if you look at the broader index we are talking about around 3% of it in yields. but across many different sectors. in the value sectors you can also find financials. upside capture due to high interest rates and yield. and moving to what we call a quality at reasonable yield, some of the tech hardware names. while the yield level might not be extremely high they can still offer you a decent 3% with a growth potential. and finally of course we have some defensive like toro or telecom. some are non-proxies. so we cannot say dividend investing equals to defensive stocks only. but then we can also pay income opportunities across many sectors. so the key is really to diversify. rishaad: so how does high inflationary environment affect your stock selection? janet: right. i think obviously from a bottom-up perspective we have to

but janet gellen -- janet yellen says don't worry, res going to be a soft landing. i don't know.n economist nomi prins. recession, soft landing, how do you see it? >> i don't think the fed has the capability of engineering anything in the economy. so let's get that straight right away. janet yellen, treasury secretary who used to run the fed, wants to make it seem as if everything is fine. she wants to calm the markets, ultimately, verse versus the economy especially after of that higher cpi number we just saw, 7.9%. the reality is the fed was behind the increase in inflation. chairman powell decided the going to be transitory, it obviously budget. they've been behind before, the subprime crisis this in 2007, and so forth. they can't engineer something soft. all they can do is try to keep the markets calm by, i believe, not hiking rates as much as some of those fore if casts might be saying. charles: push come to shove, if the fed's going got to make a decision about saving stock market or main street, they pick the stock market every time. >> every time. their third mandate is t

janet shamlian reports on what some rural communities are doing to feed themselves. >> reporter: unlike in grocery store in rural america, st. paul, kansas, has one that will never shut its doors. >> who's your boss? e have six of them. we have a mayor and five council members. >> reporter: james voorhies and kelly voorhies run the only market in down but the city owns it, a unique arrangement to keep food available. you lived here when there wasn't a grocery store, what was that like? >> it was pretty rough, actually, you learned to pack coolers everywhere you we want because we're literally 17 miles to the next wal-mart, closest grocery store. >> reporter: 40 million live in food desserts nationwide. in rural areas, that's at least 10 miles from a grocery store. more than 20% are low income. the irony for many rural communities is that they are surrounded by farmland growing fresh food. there's just no access to it. >> you guys seen beans? >> reporter: tracy keagle's humanity house in lola kansas feeds 2,000 a month. rural pantries aren't as plentiful as in cities. without this resour
