recognition of commissioners janet clyde and michael o'connor. >> as part -- director and the office, do you want to take a moment to recognize the commissioners? commissioner o'connor could not be here tonight. he had already planned a business meeting. he is in las vegas at the magic show which is a great place to be. so i wanted to take a moment to a knowledge him and his service for being on the commission for eight years. two of the years he was president of the commission. one of the years, vice- president. he representing the hospitality industry has brought value in terms of feedback, input and an exciting entrepreneurial spirit to the commission. during his commission he worked kia hours on legislative and policy matters including extensive work on the health care security ordinance on that advisory board with commissioner dwight. and that helped to boost our support and the need for having entities and promoting your local manufacturing. he leaves a legacy as a key step -- stakeholder. in his absence i want to spend -- take this time to thank him for his service. you're welc

janet clyde was on this commission because she was a simple small business person who showed up at meetings more than anyone else, and it was absolutely obvious she would be great on the commission. was she moderate, was she progress of hamas -- was she progressives? who cares. she is smart, and she hustles zeroth. they are just titles. share them. dooley has distinct relationships with people on the board of supervisors who attend our meetings, present legislation in person, and not send a staff member who does not care, and and it matters to this commission, and i am sorry i did not want to talk about much tonight, but kathleen dooley has significant relationships on the board, and that does end up mastering to all of of spirited -- to all of us. >> any commissioner, seeing none, i would like to add a few things. recently i heard the senator point out at the speech of the mayor won the election despite strength voting region -- despite ranked voting something like 60% to be mayor of san francisco. it is an overwhelming mandate for the mayor to run the city the way that he campaigned, and

janet clyde? >> good afternoon, supervisors. thank you very much. first, as a small-business owner, i have a small business in north beach. i can tell you that our business improves from the wednesday and thursday before these large festivals, and does not stop until the monday and tuesday after. we have a significant, city-wide small business tourism impact that is felt because of these multiple festivals. that is my small business commissioner have that i would like to speak out as a parent. i have an 18-year-old daughter that grew up on power to the people. is where she learned her skills, her social skills with her peers and where she learned to behave out in large club -- large crowds and in public. she and her friends are all college students now. her friends are in montreal and hong kong, where 18-year-old are legally recognized as adults. her experiences attending these festivals were so important to her growing up. you know that there are limited recreational opportunities for young teenagers in that adult time. these festivals were just ve
