meteorologist janice huff tracking all of it for us tonight. hi, janice. >> hi, brian. those wind gusts around the dallas-ft. worth area are between 65 and 70 miles an hour. numerous reports of structural damage in and around dallas-ft. worth all the way over towards wills point where the storms are right now. but as you mentioned that area of severe weather stretches from the dallas-ft. worth area all the way up into the great lakes. there are watch boxes in effect now for parts of missouri, st. louis, back towards southern missouri and portions of oklahoma and arkansas as well. the effects of the severe weather will be felt from just south of chicago all the way down to louisiana and east texas tonight. and this is where all the airport delays are going to be tonight and possibly in the morning as well, as we track this front to the east, chicago likely to see the chance for strong storms in and around the area between now and midnight tonight. and then tomorrow everything moves out of the region and then heads to the east coast. the eastern seaboard will feel the eff

janice dean is tracking the storms. janice?k at the watches, latest one in the ohio river valley 1:00 a.m. local time and within the watches we are also seeing severe weather warnings and dozens of tornado warnings in the afternoon and now the evening east of hamilton in towards alabama. so we'll be continuing to watch this line as it continues to move eastward overnight tonight. we'll watch the potential for severe weather into the overnight hours, into tomorrow and really not going to escape the coast until thursday. across the northeast. so the threat for severe weather continuing really within the next 12 to 24 hours. the rainfall, greta, incredible. flash flooding is a concern and just to recap into the overnight hours, these are the areas across the mississippi river valley and great lakes and pushing the southeast up towards the mid-atlantic. on tuesday when it finally moves offshore and we are watching a hurricane. this is gonzalo and moving westward and northward and this could make a direct hit on bermuda over this we

janice what can you tell us? this is the second major storm that has hit bermuda is less than a week, which is almost unheard of. a category 2 when it made landfall last night across bermuda. it is quickly pulling away. we saw wind gusts in excess of 120 miles per hour. the storm is moving away from land. look at those wind gusts. over 127 miles per hour for commissioner's point. bermuda airport, 96 miles per hour. the battering waves. we'll see strong rip currents along the east coast. it's going to continue to pull north and eastward. new fundland needs to watch this, a strong extra tropical storm. 70 mile winds. it's going to make a beeline towards europe. there's ireland. not done with it yet. watching hurricane ana. the good news is, it is south of the island chain of hawaii. it's going to continue to move northward. this area almost took a direct hit as of a couple of days ago. we're going to continue to see gusty winds and certainly some rain. worst of the storm is going to remain off shore, which is great

here is lyndsay janice. >> reporter: a terrifying ordeal for two surfers on a florida beach.tacked by sharks within minutes of each other. at 11:00 a.m. a 15-year-old boy surfing off the shore of new smir gnaw beach, bitten on his foot. this photograph tweeted from his hospital bed. and then a mile south another surfer bitten and the latest numbers show florida was the shark attack capital of the world with 23 incidents. valusia county was the leader with eight. half of those at new smyrna beach. experts say anyone who has swam at the beach has been within 10 feet of a shark. it comes after friday night's close call between a group of kayakers and a great white off the coast of california. >> those are holes from a great white shark. >> they were rescued by two fishermen, button counters are the giant shark are becoming more common. a recent report said the great white population has increased an estimated 42%. that's since 1997. one of the reasons, a federal ban on hunting them. tonight more lucky survivors with incredible stories to tell. lyndsay janice, abc news, new york.
