janice dean is here.rning. >> janice: good morning, not getting relief in terms of rainfall or temperatures, the wind has calmed down. 16% containment. it is heartbreaking to see the images, the drought monitor not good, almost 100% in drought and that will be ongoing, we are not getting moisture in the region. the southwest, we have a dozen fires burning and we have relief in terms of heavy rainfall that could cause heavy flooding, that is my big concern. temperatures remain high well into the 90's, close to 100. 95 in las vegas, 80 in los angeles as we get into thursday. let's take a look at the rest of the country dealing with extreme heat for central u.s. and southern plains. dallas 103, the northwest dangerous heat for those folks. a lot of people don't have air conditioning and don't see temperatures for over 90 degrees. that is why we have excessive heat warning for the regions, including seattle and portland toward eugene and record temperatures we're expecting today, 108 in metford, washington, 9
