good morning, janice. >> janice: good morning, joey.the mid-atlantic. you can see the rainfall along the gulf coast. you can see moving in towards the atlanta, georgia area up towards the mid-atlantic and the northeast where we are going to heavy rain today in and around the new york city area up towards boston. so the eastern third of the country, that's where we are really focused. you can see where we have the flood watches from northern georgia all the way up towards portland, maine. 3 to 5 inches in just a couple of days. even though we need the rain. too much of a good thick is going to cause some flooding. just know what to could if there is a watch or a warning in your area. the other big story is the heat. it hangs on to much of the country especially california, the great basin where we have heat alerts, excessive heat warnings. well over 100 degrees for some of these regions and going to set some daytime records. in the tropics, it's really incredible that we are into peak season and some none of these storms impact the u.s.
