janine de la vega, ktvu. >>> an alert truck driver avoided a crash.an oversized big rig carrying satellite equipment came to a quick halt when the driver realized his truck was too big for the sulley over pass. the highway patrol tells us the driver took the turn off that was supposed to avoid that overpass. but construction in the area now forces traffic underneath it. >> this could have been a very tragic because he was 16 feet tall, and the overcrossing is approximately 15'tall. >>> the big rig is so wide it also would have wiped out the guardrail. >>> and caltrans and the crews building the bay tower are celebrating tonight. the final footings of the bridge have been put in place. this is our camera from emeryville shooting these pictures. time lapse video from caltrans shows them hanging 400 feet in the air while being moved slowly into place. engineers say you can kind of think of the tower as a giant stool. this face wraps up work on the four legs when the cap or seat is added. hopefully by april. the tower will then be ready to support suspens

janine de la vega explains why police need your help. >> reporter: they shows a man wearing a bulletproof vest chasing after the club owner. the man struggled with sanchez who tries to get away. during the melee three other men were shot and killed. >> he is basically menacing the victim with a pistol. he attempts to drag him out of the club. >> reporter: another portion of the surveillance video shows more of a struggle. police say the suspect came into the bar with two other men who are not seen in the video with he intends to kidnap sanchez. >> we are surmising that it is some type of a drug type debt and that narcotics are involved. >> reporter: video shows the man pulling sanchez outside the club and the suspects was him and leads in the getaway car. the man in the getaway car is 32-year-old hector milla also known as arnaldo perez santana. >> we believe the person on the video is armed and dangerous. it is important to get that person off the streets. >> detectives are at a point where they need the public's help. if you recognize the gun man, you are asked to call at the san jose p

janine, what did police officers tell you? >> gasia, minutes ago, police told me that their officers fatally shot 35-year-old robert karen this morning. they said that after 10:00 sometime this morning, the police came to a cvs pharmacy. employees were saying that karen was acting ire rationally. he was threatening acting ire rationally. a neighbor told officers that karen was on his back porch holding a gun. police surrounded the home and were about to start negotiating, but officers say that's when karen made a move. >> the suspect pointed a handgun directly at the officers and fired upon them. officers returned fire and the suspect fled to his backyard. an officer encountered the armed suspect and fired one shot, striking the suspect and ending the immediate threat. >> reporter: karen's mother told us that her son is a skits skitsofranic and he had to pay for his medication. police did recover a 38 smith and weapon revolver. they are also telling us that karen has a previous history of threatening police. reporting live fro
