we'll begin with jason berken. >> well, jason berken was having a june swoon.start in his major league debut and his second ballgame, he had gone into a funk in june. 17 earned runs in 14 innings. he's 0-2 in june so far with a 10.60 e.r.a. that's not like him at all. one thing i've noticed is that sinker was much better in his last game against the new york mets. 6 2/3 innings, he strowktd struck out eight batters. you heard him talk to rick kranitz about how he felt like his windup was just starting to fall into place and he delivered every pitch with the same delivery. i agree with him totally because he had some great sink on that fastball. that's what i'd love to see. >> how about the start of ricky nolasco for the florida marlins? >> well, nolasco is a little bit different. he was getting hard and has been getting hitting hard all season long. 82 hits in 61 2/3 innings. that is a lot of getting banged around a little bit. he was shaking early in april, may. he had a 2-5 record, 6.09 e.r.a. in april, 12.02 in may. in june, he's been a different pitcher now

[ indiscernible ] recruited jason, and immedie impact. [ indiscernible ] >> he had the tommy john surgery. when he came after it, a lof times we talk in the major league, guys will throw better afterwards. can you compare him after as opposed to before? in your program? >> well, i only had him for oe year after he had the surgery, but before surgery, he had a really, really good arm. he pitched it in the 90, 92 range, and, but he had 3 pitcs for strike. the changeup was a work in progress, as most kids at that age. but he was very determined and obviously disappointed when it happened. but came back and threw well. and has done well in the orios organization. >> gary: luis castillo at the plate. 1-1 count. down low. kevin, i know that berken is somebody who likes to e
