. >> frank: chief meteorologist jason boyer joining us right now. >> tammy: jason, what can we expect right now? henderson, polk, rutherford, you're still in line for more accumulating ice. warmer air is going to punch in for a couple of hours. already seen rain farther to the rest of us. even though the radar is not impressive looking right now with all these pings, there is moisture coming down with light mist, freezing drizzle. 64 south and west of hendersonville and areas of rutherford county. you'll see some of this moisture working over head. and thus we're going to get our chances of more accumulating ice in areas east. city has been above freezing for several hours and likely doesn't fall below it tonight. everything east is in that cold air wedge. 48 in bryson city. henderson, the northern end of greenville, also oconee and pickens county. freezing rain advisories farther south over the upstate. in the next couple of hours, we'll continue to watch the freezing rain. look at the rain take over after midnight. a lot of these areas farther east you'll see rain by day break. cold

jason boyer. >> jason: we'll track that system later in to the next week. it's going to bring a lot of cold with it, too. hey, how about the rain? look at all this rain. it may not be as intense as it was today over the western carolinas. but it's still a big deal for the neighbors east. in the last 12 hours, hendersonville 3.61 inches of rain. two inches in asheville at the airport. the date. you saw over an inch in spartanburg and greer with two plus inches in places like franklin, andrews and cashiers. 40s for temperatures now in most mountain locations from the northern end to the southern end of the blue ridge. mid 50s over the upstate. your morning planner starts us out in the 30s. it it will be chilly with that wind blowing, too. 45 for the lunch hour. look for the fog. it will be pretty thick over the upstate. you'll gradually burn that off. 53. wintery weather is in the forecast next week. i'll show you when it gets here. >> darcel: developing tonight, a dog abuse case so severe in anderson county, she was transferred to an animal hospital in flat

first, we want to get right on over to chief meteorologist jason boyer for an update. jason. >> jason: snows continue to fly mostly near and along the tennessee border. we've had flurries over in mcdowell county and even up in to avery. the snow accumulations have been pretty minor so far. this is just the beginning of what's going to be off and on snow showers. there may be a lull now but they'll come back. swain county. that's where some of the heavier bands of snow reside. same thing over mcdowell. spruce pine towards newland up in avery county. winter advisories or out. they go until 7:00 a.m. friday. that's a long time from now. but don't expect the snows to fall continuously that entire time. the impacts, though, will be some icy roads, certainly blowing snow and yes, accumulating snowfall. continue until then. wind speeds alone, gusting over 40 miles an hour. sustained winds 20 plus miles an hour. midnight, these will expire with gusts at 45. you'll see these bands of snow shower activity affecting your morning commute especially i-40 west and i-26 north. i'll se
