kcbs radio's financial reporter jason brooks! >> everyone is glowing after that game. come on, it was one of the best sporting events ever. it was fantastic. and, of course, the cubs game is trending all over facebook right now. facebook really was trending high in the recent quarter. its profit tripled. its revenue was up over 50% just blockbuster numbers as facebook crushed expectations. however! the company is warning that its advertising revenue both is slowing down. and on top of that, it still plans to spends a lot of money on opening new data centers adding new engineers, as it looks to build out the business. investors are worried about facebook's growth and as a result, shares in the company are down by 5% in the early going today. san francisco activity band maker fitbit is getting hammered after a weak 3rd quarter. it saw a big drop in sales and fitbit is also warning that its holiday season growth won't be as strong as in past years. as a result, fitbit shares are down by 30%. unemployment up 7,000 this week to 265,000. i think that's still decent job growt

. >> joining us now is kcbs radio's financial reporter jason brooks. >>> good morning. october was a record month for mergers in the u.s. and november already seeing some wheeling and dealing. irvine based broadcom is buying san jose's brocade communications. in a $5.5 billion deal, bro, broadcom likes brocade but plans to sell off its ip networking business breaking it up into other potential deals. getting word that the job market didn't grow as strongly in october as it has over the past few months. private payroll tracker adp says it was a gain of 147,000 jobs the weakest since may. this is before the labor department reports its october numbers on friday. economists looking for a gain of around 170,000 jobs. lots of bay area firms reporting their earnings and there are some winners including square as well as yelp. yelp is starring so far on wall street. the company had a very strong quarter saw a big gain in users, reviews, local advertising and its shares right now are shooting higher by 16% in the early going. that in and of itself is not enough for the overall
