jason carroll is live at new york's laguardia airport. so 6:00 a.m. hour. it was smooth sailing. what about now? >> reporter: we're still smooth sailing along at this point. we haven't jinxed it so far. this is everything. take a look behind me. very few lines. we keep checking the departures board. again, on time, on time, no matter where you look on the board. we were worried about the weather system moving through the area in addition to what tsa was saying, predicting this to be the busiest thanksgiving travel season that they have had on record, that tsa expecting to basically go through 30 million travelers, going through their checkpoints. so with all of that, we expected things here to be much, much worse. at last check, lga, 12 cancellations so far. jfk looking at 47. newark looking at just 13 cancellations. one traveler we spoke to said she walked in here, we looked on her face, she said, where is everybody? listen to what some of the travelers had to say to us. >> i am shocked. there is nobody here. it is empty and it's 7:21 in the morning. >>> i got her early because

jason carroll is at laguardia. and you are staying grounded very wisely. allison chinchar is tracking the storms. jason, what is it looking like this morning? >> i have to tell you, not too bad. and i've done this story a lot of times. and i haven't seen an airport looking this good since i've been doing this. look behind me here, a few lines behind me here, the travel board pretty much says it all when you look at the departures board here on time, on time, on time. you consider you have this weather system moving through the area, when you consider that the tsa is predicting that this will be the busiest thanksgiving holiday travel season on record. expecting to screen some 30 million travelers through the thanksgiving travel weekend. we did a check, my producer and i, of the airports. and laguardia, just about five delays here. jfk 25 delays. really not bad. newark, they were looking at just 12 delays. i mean, when you consider all that i told you, again, things are looking pretty good out here and the travelers that we spoke to say that they took all of

let's get over to jason carroll who is at la guardia.his is important for asking for a friend, the man sitting next to me, how is it looking there today? >> it's looking good. you guys have been to this airport countless numbers of times. looking behind me here, you guys can see this. this is what it looks like on a normal day, forget a holiday weekend. also consider as you were talking about the weather, that a weather system moved through here this morning, despite all of that, despite the predictions from tsa, saying it's going to be probably one of the busiest thanksgiving holiday weekends they have had on record, we are seeing few delays, we are seeing even fewer cancellations. we took a look of la guardia, newark and jfk. lagarde this despite the fact that the tsa says on one day alone, they are expecting today to screen 2.7 million people coming through the airports. it looks pretty clear. the folks that we talked to this morning, one said she was shocked to walk inside. she said, where are all the people? >> i am shocked. there's

cnn's jason carroll is live with more, i was struck when the jury started deliberating, only four hours. >> should have been a sign. i'm sure that it was. he clearly, even before the verdict came down, looked uncomfortable, he was tapping his foot, he clearly looked shaken, though, as the decision came down. each guilty verdict that was read when bankman basically sunk his head deeper and deeper into his lap, his parents also in the courtroom, they appeared devastated, the jury found him guilty on all seven counts, including wire fraud, securities fraud, commodities fraud, and guilty of money laundering. the verdict not a surprise to many who had been following the trial, the prosecution presented an overwhelming amount of evidence, incoming financial documents, phony balance sheets which showed lenders that they had money that simply did not exist, incriminating conversations between b bankman-fried and executives, and also damning testimony from former executives who said they knew he was taking this money, told him he should not be doing it and that he went on and did it anyway. thro
