the trump campaign, via jason miller announced earlier today they have now raised in excess of $8 million since the indictment came down last week. this certainly indicates that the republican apparatus is rallying around the former president. if not sitting lawmakers up on capitol hill. only a handful have actually endorsed him for 2024. so far, they are sort of unanimously standing behind him when it comes to this trial. what do you make of the campaign season which is about to get into full swing? >> martha: it's a great observation, gillian. jeb bush, his nemisis, you remember he called him low energy jeb on the debate stage in 2015, jeb bush among those coming forward and saying he thinks it looks like a very weak case, and a way to go after this former president that may not in the end amount to much. unwise is the word from david french, both people who have been very dug in in their opposition to the former president donald trump, but you do see i think a rallying around. i think just a general sense that this is a d.a. who was out to get trump. i mean, he said so from the very be

financial officer who is serving the final days of his present term, jeff, we just heard from jason miller, who is a campaign adviser to trump. he is on the plane with him right now, on the way here to new york. he is now saying, and, of course, we should know this is what he is saying. it's not filing that they've raised $7 million since the award of the indictment came down. on thursday. initially we were told $4 million in about 24 hours, and so we do know that right now they're saying trump's not going to speak while he's here in new york. we don't actually know if that's what's going to happen. what we do know he is planning to speak tomorrow night back at mar-a-lago going to be delivering an address in prime time for mar-a-lago. once he returns there and really to do it on his own terms, so it's seen in a way of doing his rebuttal of this and his speech will surely go longer than 10 minutes. that is going to be arraigned tomorrow. so this is he wants something more dignified. we're told something that's not standing outside of the courthouse, so yes, he wants to gain politically from

suzy wiles, chris lawson, senior campaign advisers like stephen chung, who runs communications, jason miller, boris epstein. legal advisor and senior campaign adviser. so you know you have a lot of politics around you as well. as i said, you know, his lawyers are in new york, and he is expected to hold meetings with lawyers at trump tower. but there is a huge part of this. that is political. and that's also likely what we're going to see in mar-a-lago on tuesday night when he comes back and delivers those remarks, but the one thing again that we are going to be watching closely is if any of this political rhetoric changes once we actually learn what those charges are and manu. you've been following this closely, obviously on the hill. so many republicans have come out in defense of the former president, and they have also gotten on board with this narrative that this is a political hoax. political witch hunt. do they continue with that narrative? once we learn what those charges actually are, of course, remains to be seen. manu that's right, and we'll see if anything changes in that rhetoric

jason carroll, thank you so much. i want to bring in intelligence analyst john miller for more on this. john, the first question i have to ask -- how does someone with this troubling of a background, who couldn't even get a weapons license because of the threats he made, end up being accepted into the air national guard? >> well, he couldn't get a license because of the threatening statements that jason told us about, but the air national guard needs people. he went through the clearance process. they did a background investigation, and one of the great difficulties when you have somebody who is 18 years old is, you know, when they did my background investigation, they had to go back 40 years, foreign travel, associates, anybody i ever lived with. when you have an 18-year-old kid, what do your parents say about you? they say they're great. they interview two friends and maybe a teacher, and he didn't have much history. so that actually turned around to help him get the weapon. >> clearly, we know how troubled he was. also troubling is the fact that this information was posted online muc
