jay's team, shannon's team. by having both of those units in place i think there is going to be a really powerful team. because you can't just open up the data. you have to do things like this, where you get the community together or you have people actually talking about it because the demand side, as we were talking about it, will be there because there is going to be someone there. there have to be people working with it who are getting out there. i think this is what this city is going to be really powerful. in terms of other cities doing as well, chicago is doing some really interesting stuff. scary cool stuff. they're taking 3 in 1 data, pothole request and crime report and matching it up with social media. they're getting this really deep and rich picture of what is going on in the city. and you can do that with data when you think about it creatively. philadelphia as i mentioned, they are really active in open data. and new york, again with 3 in 1 is doing smart analytics. i think that's what you'll see

jay leno reportedly out, jimmy fallon in. to "new york times," the "tonight show" is moving back to new york city. here's fallon's take on the report of the switch. >> before we get started i have to talk about the rumor that came out today which says that i'll be moving up to 11:30 or as my parents call it, still too late. actually, the rumors are true. nbc is turning the "tonight show" into a diving competition. so exciting. >> our michelle turner has details. >> could the "tonight show" be returning to new york? and with late-night jimmy fallon taking over for jay leno? according to various reports it might happen fall 2014. no official word yet, but nbc is building a brand new new york studio for fallon who already broadcasts from the big apple. the dramatic crosscountry move would take the late-night talk show back to its roots where held court from 30 rockefeller center. in 1972 carson looking for easier access to hollywood guests took the show to the west coast. so why go back to new york? >> that's his comfort zone. t

apparently nbc plans to replace jay leno with jimmy fallon next year. the media is hammering leno even though he continues to win the late night ratings race. also today show star matt matt lauer continues to be criticized for that program's slipping ratings and the ann curry firing. joining us now is bernard goldberg.com. let's take mr. lauer first. do you think this is a fair situation? >> here is what i think. there are a certain number of people out there, actually a lot of people who like gossip. who like to know what's going on behind the scenes and who wonder if matt lower was the reason that an curry got pushed out and broke up the family and by the way if anybody out there thinks the nbc today show people are part of a family, you are really, really naive it's legitimate news to the for me but i don't care. the much bigger issue, bill is that there are more and more i will put the word in quotation marks journalists out there who like to bring people in the media achieve success and make money. so, given the internet, and this is where a lot of
