washington thought jay could be appointed. the senate. jay could be appointed. chief justice jay that he could be appointed, right? now i will talk about why i think they were right. after the claim that you cannot hold two offices, think you can hope to offices. certainly if you are in one branch. nothing in the constitution says each officeholder shall only hold one office. there are questions of the act. if someone is holding two offices at the same time, one question is, if you do not have work enough in one of those jobs maybe we ought to combine the functions in some way, right? people made that point to john jay, if you have so much time as supreme court justice, maybe we do not need a supreme court justice. but that is a effect question, not a constitutional one. i don't think there is a constitutional problem with holding two jobs and want bridge. what about holding offices cross-branch. this is more plausible. but i do not think it holds anyway. let me give you the argument for why you might think it does. why would you bother creating three different

nancy: jay korff is live in bethesda tonight with the very latest. jay: a tough night tonight. this makeshift memorial continues to grow behind me in and asf navid sepehri, it grows, the community is searching for answers. dozens gathered on a cold monday night in somber this bethesda neighborhood following the unlikely disappearance and death of classmate and friend navid sepehri. woods near the memorial, authorities found the body of the 17-year-old walt whitman senior sunday. his school principal said initial information indicates the death was accidental. the police are trying to figure out exactly what happened saturday night. that is when they were called to this house, about a mile from where sepehri's body was discovered. >> the caller is anonymous and there is an underaged drinking party at this address, loud, bonfire in the background. jay: one possible scenario is that sepehri trying to walk home fell and died from exposure. he was about two miles away. at this point, the authorities are still investigating the cause of the young man's death. jay korff, abc 7 news. f

jay korff just arrived at the what is the latest? jay: just an incredible scene. i will step out of the shot so our cameraman can zoom in. this is the mount vernon antique center, billed as the oldest and largest center in the entire region. right now it does not look all that much, but the first news photographer on the scene, the video that he got just as the fire came out at about 9:15 -- i think he got here about 25 minutes after, just incredible, flames shooting into the night sky on christmas night, engulfing and destroying this very large building here. here is the situation, according to the deputy fire chief, whom we spoke with moments ago, they believe the fire started on the second floor. beca integrity of the building, there was a significant collapse of the second floor, crashing onto the first floor, which is then ignited the fire even more, fueling it even more. we are told that it will take hours and hours for them to safely put the fire out. they came here initially thinking they could hopefully put this out with an offensive stature. then wall st
