jazz band was like the football team i was a jazz band drummer. before the concerts, we'd go the restaurant across the street and we're there eat asking silence falls across the restaurant and look at television screen and see someone walked into an elementary school in new town, connecticut, and murdered 20 children and six teacher. event titles adopted at birth out of bad situation and raised in white suburbia of orlando and like the 15-year-old and seeing images of kids made me anxious, vulnerable and scared. i ended up playing one of the worst shows because i was looking at exit signs behind me scared someone was going to walk in and shoot my friends, my family and myself. i ended up going to dc a few weeks later for the vigil for a memorial for those kids. and what really got to me was the night of the vigil was all these kids my age sitting around a hotel pool and first time everybody really started to open up about the siblings they had lost in the shooting. and across from me this guy named matthew sotteau. he was like a year older than me
