jean: i'm jean mackin. a man convicted of sexually assaulting a young girl told a judge today why he thinks he had problems with his lawyer and wants his conviction thrown out. andy? reporter: william degroot says even before trial he considered getting another lawyer, but his try attorney says that degroot never gave any indication that there was a problem. william degroot has served two years of a minimum 20-year sentence for his conviction on young derry girl. he wants his convictions overturned saying his lawyer ted lothsteen, failed to give him a proper defense. degroot has always maintained his innocence. >> i wanted people to believe the truth. >> you wanted people to believe you? >> i wanted people to believe the truth. reporter: during the jury view he moved a bible so it couldn't be seen and was later found in loftsteen said what he did was stupid but said degroot didn't want a mistrial and wanted to proceed. >> he looked me in the eye and said, ted, i have absolute confidence in you and want to g

gove jean: and i'm jean mackin. here in new hampshire, the race for the white house still has not officially been called. can you see the numbers are very close. josh: right now the numbers, 48% for hillary clinton, 47% for donald trump. but on a national level there's no question donald trump will be the next president of the united states. democratic nominee hillary clinton gave her concession speech this afternoon, we're jean: but first we have a look at another key race for the granite state's sitting u.s. senator has just conceded. here are the final results showing governor maggie hassan and incumbent republican kelly ayotte both won 48% of the vote, but hassan won by just 1,023 votes. josh: hassan claimed victory earlier today, so let's go live to adam sexton in concord with the breaking news now. within the last four minutes or so, as the ayotte campaign released this statement saying, quote, i just spoke with governor mass san to congratulate her on her election to serve in the u.s. senate. i wish governor

jean: police l suspects. tonight, a california mother who disappeared jogging near her home three weeks ago has been found alive. authorities say they are now searching for two women believed to be involved in the of duction. lauren lister is in los angeles with the latest. lauren: after missing for 22 days, this california mother of two turning up alive very early thursday morning, about 100 miles away from where she captor on a world road -- on a rural road. >> she has been reunited with her husband, keith. lauren: i would never wish this feeling on anyone. that was keith over a week after his wife went missing. he went to work when his wife was jogging on she was not seen again. when she did not pick up their children from daycare, he reported her missing. it kicked off a surge and and invest -- it kicked off a search and an investigation to find her. >> the investigation is not over. we are confident that with the help of the public we will make an arrest in this case. dark it as you be with two hispanic

jean: thanks. right now several brush fires are burning in new hampshire albany. hundreds of acres have been scorched the, as crews continue to fight the flames for a third day. mike cronin is in conway with the latest for us. reporter: so far, 325 acres have burned in the forest. we just found out that crews have had about 50% contained and they're hoping to have it fully under control by tomorrow. pictures from above show the smoke in the white mountain a crew of 45 people aahas been battling the flames, which officials say are small and low in intensity. but the challenge has been the rocky terrain and getting firefighters in safe positions to fight it. no structures have been threated. fooforts are hoping tomorrow's anticipated rain will help. >> started at five acres on saturday, now it 325 acres, some it's probably going to be about 350 acres by the time it's all done. reporter: another fire is burning tonight in loudon in the area of bear hill roe. that fourth alarm fire is at about 45 acres
