jeanine della vega is at the scene, what happened? >> reporter: dave this is less than a half mile away from where it occurred on monday and they are just about to break down the scene but they want to find out what happened. how was the man fatally stabbed down here. he was found laying down on the sidewalk in front of trinity cathedral. homicide wants to know what led up to a map getting stabbed and that's when the 911 call came in. >> there were possible auto pedestrian incident, paramedics found the individual laying facedown on the sidewalk and medical exam nation -- examination determined he had been stabbed. >> reporter: he was rushed to the hospital but he later died from his injuries. they have not arrested anybody and they are back at the office working to piece this together. we were told by police and they think he may have been in his 20s because of the tattoos he had on his body and also the coroner is trying to locate the family to notify them of what happened. jeanine della vega ktvu channel 2 morning news. >>> they ha

jeanine della vega joins us from the scene where they are searching for at least one gunman, jeanine? >> reporter: that's right, understanding here and there is a lot of police activity going on and police have this area roped off, two blocks until julian street and some of them had their rivals out and much of that activity is mid-block at a house where police found a man and woman dead inside. 4:20 this morning they received a call from neighbors that shots were fired. they found a man and a woman dead inside and at this point we don't know if there was any forced entry or if the victims knew the shooter or if there is an active search for the person responsible. >> we do not have a suspect identified but we are conducting a search for the areas for a suspect. >> reporter: police are going door to door to find information and they are trying to determine if there were any victims or details like more than one and at this point we are told by police they have reason to believe this is definitely a homicide and they do not believe this was a murder/suicide and they say this is definit
