chief meteorologist jeff ranieri is with us now. here we go again, jeff. what are you seeing this week? >> what we are seeing is a fire weather watch that's been issued. 5:00 p.m. on wednesday. and that would continue into 5:00 p.m. on thursday. highest danger for the hills of the northeast and also for the south bay. wind gusts 20 to 50 miles per hour in the mountains. it's going tieb big difference with this wind event. you've got to go to the higher elevations to get those gusts because it's the lower elevation when only see gusts of 10 to 20 miles per hour. it's another situation where the power could be out and you're really not getting that much wind. let's take it to the wind forecast. you can see all of these bright colors here in yellow, also in red and magenta. let's bring in chief meteorologist jeff ranieri. jeff, how much more will we see of that over the next couple of days? >> i think it's -- especially through tomorrow going to continue to filter down here. once we get the wind on sunday, that definitely could blow a lot of it out of here out towards the pacific ocean. but i think the larger thing at hand right now is the air is unhealthy across the bay area. so you've got that. may need to limit your outdoor exposure. we have the fire, the kincade mil, which is at least 21,000 per hour. but the direction of the wind is likely going to grow this fire right here on the southern side. as we move through tomorrow, again, we are expecting unhealthy air compared to the east bay and south bay with the worst air quality expected right over marin, napa, and sonoma counties. but what about the wind? i don't want to string you along on this. i want to give you an early look at what i'm looking at with my forecast. and you can see on saturday i don't think for most of the day wind's a problem. 1

let's bring in our chief t jeff tracking the latest conditions for us. jeff?st of the smoke today, the way the wind was blowing pushed way out into the pacific. so we did have some unhealthy air through parts of the north bay. for a lot of us, a lot of blue sky. the most hot spot activity on the eastern side through today based on some satellite detections. so middle town is certainly watching this closely. but look at the winds out of the east. only at 4 miles per hour. gusts tonight only tout 15 and a cool 63. tomorrow i only see gusts to 15 miles per hour as well. so making some progress. at least 30% contained at the last update. but hopefully in this press conference, we'll learn more about maybe some further containment. we do have storm rangers scanning here. for any reason, we saw some major increase in fire activity in ash plumes on the southern side of the fire. we would be able to pick up those ash plumes on storm ranger. we wanted to show you also the wind forecast. i don't think the wind is going to be a problem all the way through this weekend. v
