but it's four miles from elizabeth, new jersey, lyndon new jersey. so that is suggestive and we're waiting for additional details to find out what the nature of this arrest is and whether this is the break that authorities have been looking for. in terms of your earlier question, what led them to rahami, it's a series of things. all getting back to the fact that three bombs were planted and only one of them went off coletely. another, the pressure cooker bomb, didn't blow up at all and the one left in the seaside park, new jersey, on saturday, sort of fizzled out. only one part of that went off. so you got the cell phone that you see in the picture with the pressure cooker bomb. there was another cell phone in the new jersey one and we're told that that yielded information, secondly, we're told that a fingerprint was lifted off of one of these unexploded bombs and thirdly, you have the surveillance video that authorities say shows ahmad rahami walking in chelsea at the point where these bombs were dropped off. so a rapidly moving investigation. these

now, that's in rock lands county just north of the new jersey border. a little more than an hour late their train plowed through a platform and into a reception area when it reached the ends of the line. several eyewitnesses have reported that the train never slowed down as it entered the terminal. >> when we felt the train slamming or sliding into the station we weren't necessarily -- we just wanted to make sure everyone would could help was standing on their feet or would co-could get them out of harms way. the first car, second car, kind of like jumped on, jumped a little bit on to the, like where we were standing, so it kind of like crushed that little center where people were, where it would be normally standing, and through them, into where we were. >> let's get the latest from the scene in north jersey. >> jamie yuccas has more. >> witnesses say the commuter train slammed into wall full force into the train station in hoboken, new jersey, at least 100 people were injured. the platform was packed with people wait to go commute into new york city.

i was getting off the new jersey light rail which is on the opposite end of the new jersey pass and goes into the hoboken terminal. usually, you know, you just follow the map, drinking your coffee, headphones on. i decided to take a phone call, and thankfully, i took my time as i was walking towards the pass within the terminal. from the corner of my eyes, saw what looked like a runaway train. it happened so fast, there was no way you could jump out of the way. there was no way you could even know it's coming. nobody was really paying attention to the trains in the morning because you get used to all that. but thankfully, i was about 10 to 15 feet away from its path. as it smashed into the waiting area of the hoboken terminal, and i was in a complete state of shock. i waited about two seconds and next thing you know, the ceiling started to collapse and if you've ever seen the movie basically where the camera looking at the person and the person running toward the camera and the background is everything falling, that's exactly what was happening. thankfully, this whole structure didn't fa

and the jersey shore.nbc 10's pamela osborne joins us live in the digital operations center. pam, we now have a better idea of the case being built against the suspect. tell us more. >> vai, we certainly do. a spokesperson for the u.s. attorney in manhattan tells nbc news rahami will first face charges in federal court in manhattan. there's no word on when that will happen. when it does, he'll be transported from new jersey to new york by u.s. marshals. ahmad rahami is seen in the surveillance video 37 minutes before the bomb went off. 31 people were hurt. rahami is captured a second time on surveillance walking near the spot on 27th street in new york where another bomb was placed. the complaint says investigators found rahami's fingerprints on multiple bombs, including the bombs that were found near a train station in elizabeth, new jersey sunday night. we understand there were handwritten documents found with that bomb but investigators haven't said what was written. authorities in new jersey have charg

from new jersey to washington. i want to start with ayman mohyeldin who is in linden, new jersey where ahmad khan rahami was arrested. you were there as this was unfolding. what's the latest at this hour? >> reporter: the situation now is it is very much an active investigation. we have been speaking to police officers here in particular the captain of the linden police department. he walked us through what happened. we arrived shortly after the gunshot -- the shootout rather, unfolded. police are still walking through the scene connecting bullet casings. this is what we have learned to captain james sarnicki. he told us this morning around 10:30 a.m. the owner of a local bar was coming and he noticed an individual sleeping in the doorway of the bar. he immediately was call -- immediately called police. two police officers responded. as one of the police officers approached the man who was sleeping at the doorway he recognized him immediately. the police captain told us he was able to recognize that it was ahmad kh

so that's what finally led authorities to new jersey to elizabeth, new jersey. they sitting on that place yesterday. we kept talking to officials, they told us they were watching, waiting, to see whether or not they could figure out who was there and determined this morning they could not find him, put out that bolo to be on the lookout of that suspect. we're told after that put that out, within an hour able to get a tip from some there who thought they saw him and that's when the police converged there, the fbi were on the scene there and they were able to make this arrest. luckily, nobody else, it appears, was severely injured. the suspect appears to have a gun shot according to the video we're showing there. we want to question him, figure out if there's anybody else behind this. whether anybody was associated with this. we do know they had isolated video from the events on saturday that made them think that perhaps there might be some other people involved. >> is this is the video with the duffel bag? >> video with the duffel bag. >> to be clear, anybody tha
