we sent jessica doyle to reagan national airport to get information. >> reporter: good afternoon. things are finally starting to get back to normal here at reagan national airport. the first flights of the day i'm happy to report got off on time, about six hours ago. but it could be several days before everything returns completely to normal. here's the reason why. take a walk with me. i want to show you this side of the tarmac. you can see two planes are prepared to take on their passengers. they're filling the slots over there. but on the other side of the tarmac, you'll see it is empty. the situation is the major carriers pulled their planes out of the washington area sunday night to get them out of the path of hurricane sandy and her 60 mile per hour wind gusts. they now have to rotate them back into the airport here at reagan national. that could be a couple days to get everything back to normal. but i will tell you passengers who have tickets in hand today, they are very, very happy. >> i'm from florida. it's supposed to be that weather in florida, not here. tried to get out

jessica doyle is live along the water front in george town. jessica. >> reporter: good morning to both of you. i'll show you the winds. their still chipping in georgetown. you can see the flags flowing. we're over by the sequio restaurant. we had massive flooding here in 20th 201 -- in 2011 because the flood walls wither not up. we could be seeing in george town the worst flooding in 16 years. it could be days before we know exactly what is going to happen here. let me direct your attention to the river. what we're seeing right now is a low tide. high tide comes today about 9:30. there's lots of degree -- -- debris in this water. it could be thursday or friday before we see the waters come rushing in. all of this water also coming in from pennsylvania. we could be facing a very serious potential problem with flooding. national weather service is saying a ir -- areas that are most vulnerable is the george town water front, old town. definitely we're going to be keeping an eye on the water levels here. that debris, if it comes ashore, we're about

jessica doyle is back with another your money report. >> time is running out for the president and congress before the fiscal cliff. it's exhausting even to say it. >> there's a big huge downside for all of us. let's say the fiscal cliff happens. a major tax hike is on the way if congress doesn't act and soon. the tax policy center estimates most households could see an nch tax increase of -- an average tax increase of $3500. that's because a record number of tax increases are due mostly to the expiration of temporary provisions that were put in place since 2001. they're said to take effect in january. all tolled, the center estimates the taxes would rise by more than $500 billion in 2013. the good news? if you think congress will let all the scheduled tax increases take effect but at the moment it's not clear what kind of fiscal clear deal lawmakers want to negotiate. and anything they do resolve won't happen till after the election. >>> it's a boy for yahoo's c.e.o. mar ris ya may -- marissa mayer. she was one of the original employees of google. she planned to go back to work a few weeks

. >> jessica doyle joins us from the georgetown water front. >> reporter: good morning. yesterday we were in old town watching the water, today we are in georgetown. this is considered to be one of the most vulnerable spots with potential flooding. walk with me over here . if you take a look it seems high. this is actually low tide right now. there's a lot of debris. it's actually quite calm. high tide is 9:30, 9:45. this is what the national weather service is predicting, potentially the worse flooding in 16 years. not since 1996 do they expect conditions to be as bad as they will be over the next couple of days. we've seen massive flooding here in the past. the flood walls were not up last time and tony and joe's, the restaurant, it found itself under 10 feet of water. first floor and basement businesses flooded out. as we see today, this morning, everything buttons uptight. they learned their lessons about being careful with those flood walls. the national weather service is predicting that flooding based in pennsylvania could make its way down thursday or friday and

i'm jessica doyle, 9 news now. >>> the state of massachusetts is launching a criminal investigation into the pharmacy that is thought to be the source of the meningitis outbreak. officials say their preliminary investigation has found problems with cleanliness and sterilization. there were specks of fungus in sterile medication. medication was not sterilized. drugs were also shipped before they were tested for contamination. the governor promise as crackdown on these facilities. >> the pharmacy board will immediately start periodic, unannounced inspections of compounding pharmacies that prepare sterile injectable medications such as those directly linked to the outbreak. these pharmacies will be inspected at least annually and more frequently in the case of a substantiated complaint. >> the new england compounding center says it is cooperating with investigators. but meanwhile more than 300 people have become ill and 23 people have died. >>> today i'm one on one with dr. alex. she's the owner of the aesthetic dental spa in mclean. when i was a child, i remember fondly halloween, goal up

i'm jessica doyle in for mike hydeck. monika samtani here and howard bernstein?will give us some rain. the bigger problems won't be until monday into tuesday. this morning we're dealing with fog and drizzle. look at the satellite imagery on sandy. is doesn't have that concent rick eye, circle you were seeing when it was coming over cuba but it's still looking like a strong storm and dealing with some sheer in the upper level. it's maintaining itself. the hurricane advisory at 2:00 has winds of 85 gusting to 115 moving off toward the north, northwest at 13 miles an hour. let's show you the latest track. this will be a problem for parts of the mid at listen tick and northeast -- mid-atlantic and northeast. it won't be as bad as if we were in northern new jersey. forecasting the intensities is a challenge. is it going to maintain a tropical structure or turning to a hybrid storm, extra tropical. in any event, does look like the path will get near hatteras. 55 mile an hour winds could extend 120 miles from the center. 34, 40 mile an hour winds. it will have a massive

i'm jessica doyle, 9news now. >>> a watchdog group claims that they have found hundreds of registeredaryland voters with something in common. they're all dead. the organization doing the digging is an advocate for voter identification laws. we take a look at their research. >> reporter: finding voters dead or alive. what are we flipping through? >> these are deceased voters that remain active on the voter rolls. >> reporter: election integrity maryland says its research shows rufus harris who died in 2002 voted in 2008. other names registered after death are james procter of laurel who died in '88 and registered in '92. and virginia given of upper marlboro who died in 1991 and registered in 1992. >> out of 11,000 challenges that we filed, 1500-plus were of deceased voters that have been allowed to stay on the voter rolls. >> reporter: eim says it also found a woman in a nursing home with two voter registrations who doesn't remember voting since 2006. >> and yet her voter registrations have been used consecutively in all even year elections, primary and general elections. >> reporter:

they're hunkering down in old town alexandria where my colleague jessica doyle is. probably tonight will be the most concern with coastal flood warnings. expecting tides 1 to 3 feet above normal. >> reporter: that's exactly right, howard. i'll bring you live on the scene here in old town alexandria. historically an area that floods first when we talk about flooding in the washington area. old town and the huntington section of alexandria both tend to be flood prone areas. let me show you the scene live on the potomac river. you can see some lights on the other side. the water is starting to rise. low tide came in at about 3:02 this morning. high tide this morning is coming in at 8:45. i can tell you right on the scene here, we've already seen in the last hour that we've been in position that the water has risen about half a foot already. expectations at this point are on a normal day between low and high tide, you get a 3-foot rise in the water. it's going to be about 12 to 24 hours before that runoff starts hitting the potomac. let me tell you, this could be a very
