the trucks keep coming and going, jessica, from this large taylor farms plant just outside of salinas. this big company now finds itself in the middle of this e coli problem. agriculture is a $4 billion industry in monterey county. and taylor farms is one of the heavy hitters in the industry, growing and processing vegetables that are shipped throughout the world. so it surprised the local ag commissioner to hear that taylor farms is being investigated as a potential source of the deadly mcdonald's e coli outbreak. it's a little bit surprising i think, because i think we have a pretty solid food safety program in the nation, and especially here in california, from the field, making sure that employees follow any safety requirements at that point, that they wear any personal protective equipment as they're doing some of the harvesting activities to minimize any potential risk. juan hidalgo says those protocols extend inside the packing and processing plants, making sure the machines are always clean and as well as the vegetables as they get processed for distribution. the commissioner
