let's bring in our senior international editor, jodi schneider.e expect? what do both sides hope to achieve? >> well, we don't really know, because neither has put forth their plan or agenda. we do know that president trump said he's looking forward to this, and obviously this is a distraction for him, announcing this and making a big deal of this, a distraction from the continued government shutdown and the continued investigations into his dealings with russia. but at the same time, we haven't really seen a lot of progress in seven months. in north korea, they have not made commitments about weapons inspectors and nuclear inspectors, and they also -- there really hasn't been progress in terms of dismemantlement. -- dismantlement. there are still warheads and icbms that had been there before. it's unclear what we can actually hope for from this, but again, both sides say they want to meet, and part of this is obviously optics. the more you meet, the more it looks like things are moving forward. >> but doesn't it matter more fo r kim, because he g
