democrats who obviously -- most party leaders in this state -- or i'll say "many" -- don't want joe sestakey have been searching for a candidate. they went through a variety of people, including montgomery county commissioner josh shapiro. they are trying to find a candidate, and it's obvious you don't resign a position if you're just thinking about it. the announcement will be -- is imminent. >> there are two ways to look at this. let's start with the money. she, first of all, faces sestak. he's got almost $2 million on hand. and then she would face pat toomey, who's sitting at over $8 million. he's got ads up all the time. doug, you've run for office. you know the money race. what does this mean for her, in a matter of months, to try to get in there and turn this thing around? >> well, i think, number one, to answer the question of if it's smart or not, is if she wants to do it. if she wants to do it, she believes she has ideas, she believes she can do a better job, then she should do it. i agree. i don't think she stepped down because she likes to be unemployed. i think she stepped down

joe sestak did not go to a democratic function that was held last weekend, so it may even be that he's decided not to pursue it with the same vigor that he has at one time. last time they were almost tied. >> or he didn't think that that was the friendliest crowd for him. >> [ laughs ] maybe. >> i think if -- i agree that toomey's in a very good position. i don't think either of the speculated candidates would have a chance but for a hillary clinton tidal wave. and, you know, the wild card here is some kind of overwhelming turnout for a hillary clinton candidacy, then that could threaten toomey, in a manner. >> i just think it's difficult in a presidential year. that is the big turnout. i think turnout absolutely is the big question, and i think the katie mcginty question -- she is being wooed by national democrats, being wooed by local democrats. i think she's about a 50-50. people are sort of saying they think she's sort of leaning -- people think that she's leaning, but she hasn't made the decision yet. and then there are people who are also floating the name of state senator vincen
