i'm john berman with brianna keilar. it is wednesday, august 25th.e begin with the stunning pace of evacuations from afghanistan. the white house just announced that another 19,000 people were evacuated from kabul in the past 24 hours, including 11,000 by the u.s. alone. it really is another stunning number and a true logistical achievement. but how much longer will it last? now that president biden has decided to withdraw all u.s. troops from the airport in kabul just six days from now, or within the next six days? one of the major questions is who exactly will be left behind, including how many americans? it hasn't even been clear how many americans have been in afghanistan. secretary of state tony blinken is expected to provide some clarity on that question in a few hours. while the biden administration says more than 82,000 people have been evacuated in the past 11 days, again, a stunning achievement, a senior administration official does tell cnn that a lot of deserving afghans will be left behind. >>> overnight a source told cnn the taliban app

it is tuesday, august 17, i'm john berman with brianna keilar. we begin with breaking news, a huge development overnight in the battle against covid. u.s. health officials are expected to recommend covid booster shots for most americans. that is eight months after getting their second vaccine dose. it was only last week that third shots were recommended for people with weakened immune systems. is t this is a huge expansion of that. the timing is worthy of note, the news coming out in the midst of the days on in afghanistan. nevertheless health care workers and nursing home residents are expected to be the first to receive their booster shots followed by seniors who were at the front of the line when vaccinations first became available. >> there is newly release the data from israel and it shows a drop in protection over time as the u.s. fights at this point here its own surge of the delta variant of the administration's plan could be announced this week. it would depend on the fda and cdc authorizing those additional shots. still some steps to go
