we are starting to learn who will be on this powerful group including john kerry on the democratic side for the republicans. their job is to cut the deficit by $1.5 trillion over 10 years. the deficit this year is $1.5 trillion. to do that, they have to take on the issues of tax increases and entitlement cuts. congress refused to touch either one. even though the country is insolvent and had the credit rating downgraded. with an election coming up, what makes anyone think they will going to make the tough decisions now? ain't going to happen. how is this leading to compromise? if all of the super committee members signed a pledge not to raise taxes, consider washington's track record on the issue of deficit reduction. last year president obama named a debt commission and had a lot of this same stuff in this. the proposals came out and were promptly ignored the gang of six and the senate, they recommended tax reform and changing the programs and that went nowhere the last time there was a significant drop in federal government spending was 1954. this was nothing but cheep political theat
