john murtha was the chair person for defense appropriations committee. now that being said, i will fight to create jobs in this district. and we talk about some of the earmarks, you know, i like most americans are against wasteful spending. but it's pretty hard to say that bulletproof vest for the troops is wasteful spending. it's pretty hard to say that armor plating for humvees is wasteful spending. but it's the air mark processing is going to survive, it has to be one that is open, that is transparent and one that the american people can support. now, there's currently a moratorium on air marks in both parties have agreed to a moratorium on earmarks. and that is because it still isn't the process american people can support. i think we need to come up with a process that is open and transparent, and i would fully support continuing to work to continue the defense industry here. but you have to keep in mind, like i said, neither one of us will be able to replace john murtha. we have to look to send someone to congress who is not only looking to attract

democrat mark crist, who is running against republican businessman tim burns in the race to fill john murtha'sand there are three close senate races to watch in pennsylvania, kentucky, and arkansas. and in pennsylvania, five-term senator arlen specter faces the big challenge from democratic congressman joe sestak. today, he says specter who switched parties, becoming a democrat is a poster child for what is wrong with washington. and, arkansas, democratic senator blanche lincoln is spend the day before the election telling voters she built up clout in washington and that is a good thing and lincoln is getting heat for her vote, for the health care bill. for challenger democratic lieutenant governor bill halter, says lincoln represents the status quo and, in kentucky, it is republicans fighting it out in a split between tea party conservatives and establishment republicans, kentucky's secretary of state tray grayson is backed by mitch mcconnell, but rand paul, senate libertari libertarian, leading by double digits and rand paul that's backing of the tea party. it will be fun to watch on tuesday

elections, how have the the dccc and nrcc spend money on the pennsylvania race to replace the late john murtha, as well as hawaii's race who will be replacing neil abercrombie? guest: you look at the pennsylvania race, both committees are really pouring money into the pennsylvania race. the nrcc is on track to spend about $1 million. dccc has spent about $190,000 in the race. that does not include some of the upside groups that you are starting to see weigh-in, groups like the national republican trust, chamber of commerce, right change. all of these groups are now going into pennsylvania and puttingouthundreds of thousands of advertising dollars on the air. i know there is another group called americans for prosperity calling in on behalf of the senate -- the conservative side. so you have a lot of money in the race over all. then you look at the hawaii race, in different pattern of spending. the dccc has spent $291,000 there. earlier this week, they announced that they would not spend any more money in hawaii, that they would pulloutof the race. -- out of the race. the nrcc has not spend a d
