jon huntsman will be one on stage and for now, though, jon huntsman is my guest out of tampa, the former governor of utah and former ambassador to china. welcome sir and good morning here. >> thank you, bill, it's an honor to be with you. bill: you are in this tea party debate later tonight, and you're going to have to sell yourself these folks and i'm wondering where you disagree with the tea party. what differences do you have with this message? >> well, there's a lot to like in what i have done. when i stand you and they find i am prolife, prosecond amendment, progrowth, brought about historic tax cuts in iowa, best managed state in america, tripled the rainy day fund, health care reform without a mandate. as we look into this and we make that introduction to the american people i think there's a lot to like here. bill: do you have any disagreements, then, governor? >> well, i don't look for disagreements. i look for where this country can come together. as we sat yesterday, reflecting on what happened ten years ago to this country, and the emotional outpouring of so many americans, i

jon huntsman has a plan. what does his plan include? >> reporter: that's right he unveiled it and this a week before president obama unveiling his jobs plan. this is a plan from jon huntsman that would dramatically shrink the scale of government, eliminating tax deductions, including the popular mortgage deduction so many people enjoy and streamlining the tax code, reducing it into three brackets and then a widespread regulatory overhaul, scrapping the president's signature health care reform plan, which he calls of course obama care, as well as the financial reform we saw in the last congress, suzanne. >> we know everyone is looking for a solution. the huntsman plan when you look at the details does it seem like the american people may be looking for the changes? >> reporter: there's no polling on his plan. some of the ideas we've heard before. there's certainly some opposition to those, the mortgage deduction tax break, pulling that away. we've seen opposition to that before but yes, americans are very hungry for something, suzanne an

joining us former governor of utah jon huntsman. good evening. >> i'm here as you instructed last week. >> greta: good, i'm delighted. thank you. not going to take a lot of guessing what you thought about tonight's speech. empty rhetoric, failed policies. president obama has failed. i guess that sums up. anything about the speech that you thought was worth looking at? >> well, the words are okay. i guess the rhetoric is okay. but i guess the sad story here is that we're americans here. we're big, bold optimists, we want solutions. when the economy has hit the wall, you can't take half steps. you can't make half measures you have to go big. wherever i go in this country i have plenty of conversations with people, they want leadership. they want someone to go big and bold. the problem is, we're not doing that. the half measures are not going to get in economy where it needs to be. the only way we get out of this fix if we look at the tax code and say it is aged dilapidated, we need to shake it up. i put forward a proposal that strips
