here is jonathan kennedy with more to expect. good morning. >> jonathan: i have it in graphical form. temperatures are much cooper, we were seeing a little rain across the northern half of the area, saw a few showers trying to clip the columbia area but we didn't see any actual reports of rain falling. especially this far south we are not seeing the brunt of the impact and highest intensity of moisture and lift, so rain hasn't been an issue even though you will see it across the area, well off, heading off toward the grand strand toward myrtle beach. nothing to worry about in rain fall, cloud cover moving out. we have seen a lot of rain over the last 48 hours. manning 6.31 inches, king street toward moncks corner, closer to the coast e-7 to 8 irons, obviously the bull's eye. we are looking at a much drier set up and cooler set up this morning. 43 in downtown. 43 lexington. 35 in saluda, wagner 36. newberry 37. the cool air sliding in from the north-northwest, that's where you our wind are coming from. it's been windy for us. right

here's meteorologist jonathan kennedy and look at the forecast on groundhog's day. jonathan? >> good afternoon, eric. it's been a little bit of up and down here on groundhog's day. temperatures in the upper 40's and low 50's. we're starting to see some areas warm up in the 50's. as you notice, there's a big difference in many areas across the board here. 70 degrees in columbia. 55 in st. matthews. sumter at 54. manning at 72. orangeburg at 72. we're certainly seeing the temperature gradient from north to south be much different and we're starting to see the cooler air from the north. there's a cold front to our north. so areas not that far away are going to be much cooler today. areas pretty much columbia in there south should be much warmer. some of these areas here, this pocket of cooler air around sumter and st. matthews,ic i think that will kind resolve itself out and they'll be in the 70's very shortly. we are seeing some variable cloud cover and wind out of the east and right now, temperatures kind of all over the map right now. looking for clear skies for us for now. c

meteorologist jonathan kennedy has a first look at the forecast. jonathan? >> good afternoon, guys. i'm taking no credit for seeing the weather that we have today. it's cold and windy. sunshine has completely gone away for us. still a really big turnout for the rally across the street. 41 degrees. winds out of the west at 20 to 25 miles per hour so it still feels like it's in the low 30's. a lot of people braving the cold and the wind so far this afternoon. thankfully, they don't have to be braving any type of rain or any other type of frozen precipitation. we're looking at a try setup for us this afternoon. it's getting cloudier and you can start to see some traces of precipitation on the radar. we have a rain/snow mix. some snow as you get up towards hendersonville. a few rain showers popping up to our south and southeast as well. i don't expect to see any precipitation today. i stick with the cold air and wind which is not that great on its own. at least it won't be rainy for us. 41 right now. 37 in newberry. 37 in saluda. wind chills in the lower 30's and winds, they're cranking

let's turn things over now to meteorologist jonathan kennedy who gets an a for the day. jonathan? >> thank you, eric. we're seeing some nice sunshine. a little bit cloudy for us at the moment. that's kind of been the rule so far today. kind of in and out cloud cover. temperatures are still warming up. bouncing back to kind of mid 50's this afternoon after seeing a little bit of cooldown earlier this morning but it looks like we're shaping up overall to a nice day. winds out of the north at 12 miles an hour and that will probably keep things a little cooler than what we saw yesterday. i don't think we quite make it to 65. i think most everybody are on pace to climb into the lower 60's by the time it's all said and done today. we're seeing mostly sunny skies but a little bit of cloud cover over the downtown area at the moment. but that should be kind of in and out throughout the day today. i think we'll see a nice forecast come our way for the remainder of your wednesday. temperatures pretty much right where they should be this time of year. average high around 60 degrees. we'll see

let's turn things over to jonathan kennedy for a look at how this wther could affect you. how about it, jonathan? >> good afternoon, guysment we started off with a wet forecast that's since tapered off. we are still seeing a lot of wind outside. if you've been outside in the last couple of hours, you've certainly noticed the wind picking up. now, we're also seeing lots of sunshine. that's not necessarily working in our favor. that more sunshine means there will be more heat and more fuel for the storms to get going and we have some pretty strong line of storms just to our west. let's take a look at our high definition radar here, our radar scope. we're looking at this really strong line almost hugging the 77 corridor right now going down from charlotte all the way up to concord and those areas all the way down just west of columbia at the moment. here. that is severe thunderstorm warnings from those locations. we are under a tornado watch until 7:00 tonight. that's a tornado watch until 7:00 and we're watching. i'll zoom in a little bit for you here some storms just to our

let's turn to jonathan kennedy with the first forecast. jonathan? >> good afternoon, guys. yeah, rainy start for sure for us. we are seeing the rain slow down for most of us. now, still seeing a nice wall of rain to our east. anywhere east of columbia, you're pretty much encompmpsed other than that, moving to the west, absolutely dry. rain splitting the state at this time. and that's been the case for, oh, the last 24 hours or a lot of this. we look at some of the rainfall totals. manning, six inches of rain. orangeburg, 3 1/4. two in st. matthews. three in sumter as well. over an inch and a half. inch and 3/4 for us here in columbia. still some really good totals but out towards the east towards king street and those areas are upwards of six inches of rain and a ton of rain and more rain coming for those areas along that i-95 and st. so we're looking at temperatures pretty much where they were this morning. we were at 59 this morning and we've cooled off to 57 this afternoon. we'll cononnue to cool off this afternoon. i did see a high around 60 so scattered showers through

let's turn things over to meteorologist jonathan kennedy with your first forecast. good afternoon. >> good afternoon, eric and rochelle. it's been a very cloudy day. not a particularly rainy one for us here at home. we've seen a lot of rain across the state but mainly towards the upstate and off towards the lowcountry and out towards myrtle beach and those areas there. for us, we've been kind of caught in between a lot of that rain which was the exact opposite as yesterday. we did see some good rain yesterday afternoon and i saw almost two inches of rain locally. elsewhere, not as much but they're catching up with us with that steady rain that we were seeing earlier this morning. we're seeing a little bit of a lull in the action so far this afternoon, not a lot happening for us. i do expect us to see some form of rainfall during the day today and into tonight, but as of right now, should be nice and dry here. grabbing some lunch here in the short term. temperatures, though, ranging anywhere from the mid 40's to the low to mid 60's. we have that frontal boundary, and
