i'll bring jonathan morris back into the conversation here. jonathan, for years, i have just really come in the past few months, several months gotten used to it because i call him father jonathan for two decades. it's interesting to me. i wonder what you thought when pope benedict resigned. were you surprised? were you disappointed? what was the feeling at the vatican at that point in time? >> just for a little context, pope francis gave me a dispensation a few years back to leave the catholic priesthood, public ministry, with the possibility of pursuing family and marriage. i am very grateful to pope francis. the day that pope benedict resigned, i was actually in an effort getting ready to take some vacation. i was going to play golf with some friends. it was 6:00 in the morning. i'll never forget, we get a call saying "the pope has resigned." it would not be true. the pope does not resign. pope benedict did it. he felt like he could no longer be a guard of the roman catholic church because of his emotional and physical weakness. one of the t
