jose baby. yesenia ramirez, you see her here is one of two people facing charges for taking 3-month-old baby brandon last week. there was a lot of media coverage about this. we learned that lopez has been deported three times. i.c.e. officials sent her back to el salvador in 2018 and twice in 2019. in fact, in 2019, the 43-year-old previously spent ten days in a texas jail for illegally entering the united states. now the immigration agency, i.c.e. has placed a detainer on her. that means it's asking santa clara county to hold on to ramirez whenever she is released so they can beport her again. as you know, it's not that simple. >> the county has made a commitment not to collaborate with i.c.e. especially because we want to make sure that we are upholding the value of our community and our community feeling safe and trusting for our local police. >> santa clara county is a sanctuary county and does not notify i.c.e. when an undocumented immigrant is free from jail, similar to san francisco. if yesenia ramirez is found guilty in san jose in that county, and is sentenced to prison, the state would hold yesenia for deportation after serving her sentence. during the course of our
