stormwatch7's meteorologist josh knight is in boca raton with an update to the josh? josh: that is right. and they need to be. the entire cone is still encompassing the entire peninsula of florida. we could be looking at hurricane force winds by early sunday. tropical storm force winds as early as tomorrow morning in south florida. let me show you the latest cone. i still want to stress that people down here are looking at the whole cone. easy to get caught up looking at what the center line looks like. right now we have 155-mile-per-hour max winds, 185-mile-per-hour gusts around that eye wall. this storm is expected to start to continue to the northeast. and then start to make the turn north. this is when we start to look for those effects closer to the keys. ultimately making its way basically up the middle of the state. with that category four winds as it is making landfall over the keys. and the storm surge, all of that wind piling up all the water. you will look for some areas closer to the coast that of water above the ground level. as it does work its way inlan

josh?osh: that is right, steve, just as we came on the air, our phones started buzzing which has been up graded from a hurricane watch to a hurricane warning. whenatch is put out tropical storm force wind is expected within 48 hours. then it was jumped up to woo a warning when it is within 36 hours. it is just, hey, the storm is getting closer and this is looking more certain. the wider view, including the bahamas and parts of cuba. of course the florida keys and pretty much the entire tip of south florida, from the west coast over towards miami and up to jupiter. a tighter can see all the areas part of this hurricane warning. again, steve, you were just showing the cone, which still encompasses the entire state. center ofin mind, the the storm could go any of those places, but really no matter where it goes at this point, we are still likely to see hurricane force winds regardless of word goes. storm surge warnings have also been upgraded from watches to warnings. that chance of a storm su

josh: complicated is the perfect word for it. but we have been tracking this since it was off the coast of africa so ideally nobody is surprised by it. anybody up and down the east coast, the gulf states and the islands have seen and heard about the storm. but exactly where it goes is up in the air. the storm now is 120-mile-per-hour winds. we will get another update at 5:00. based on the satellite imagery, i would not be surprised if it's bumped up to a category four. we are now 500 miles here from the islands and is it working in that direction. i want to talk about how the track changed in the last couple of days. the dominican republic and cuba, a track. each time we have gotten a new one in last 24 to 36 hours it drops a little bit farther south. the trend is this storm is going to stay farther south. it's now looking like more of an issue for florida or even sneaking there over in the gulf. keeping a close eye on the system. if we see any impact it will be early next week like monday or tuesday. but the turn north is lookin

josh: absolutely. we go throughout the next ten days we are looking at the nice weather sticking around. but we are busy as we start to look toward the tropics. so we've got of course hurricane jose and hurricane maria. maria is making landfall as a category five last night in dominica and now continuing to march closer to the u.s. virgin islands as well as puerto rico. so keeping a close eye on this system. our winds right now are 165-mile-per-hour. just 85 miles southeast of st. croix. what we are going to get are the frequent updates. advisories every hour now that it is closer to making another landfall. that is expected to happen tonight and tomorrow morning. take this out to tomorrow morning. tomorrow morning 155-mile-per-hour winds and just on the edge of the category four to on the edge of puerto rico here. close to san juan. by thursday morning this is expected to be off to the north side of the dominican republic. after that it does continue to weaken for us as it moves north and northeast. u
