joyce, let me start with you.u to react to the tweet we saw yesterday, the tweets subsequent to it with regard to speculation here. we're seeing obstruction of justice, and the plea that we saw as well. what do you make of this moment? >> so, it's important to remember that it's very unlikely we will ever see an indictment of stating president of the united states. there's a little bit of back-and-forth between constitutional law scholars, but most of them believe that the president can only be held accountable via an impeachment proceeding on the hill or a subsequent election. so i don't think that we'll see this used as evidence in front of a jury, but whether it's evidence in front of the court of public opinion is an entirely different story. and this tweet seems to indicate in the president's own words, or perhaps his lawyer's words, that he had knowledge that general flynn had lied when he asked jim comey, the fbi director, to protect him. whether that's a crime or not, it's a startling lapse in judgment and

attorney now law professor at the university of alabama, joyce vance. and with me at the table, "new york times" political reporter nick comfosori and ed mullen. former chief policy director for the house of representatives. every time i read that, i wonder what might have been. let's start with you jeremy bash. you and i have talked for almost 12 months about how central mike flynn is to the question, not just of russian collusion, but of whether or not the president of the united states could be implicated in obstruction of justice. your thoughts and your reaction to today's development. >> well, this was not entirely unexpected. we've been hearing for several days that mike flynn was going to be entering some sort of deal with bob mueller. and today we saw it. it was a guilty plea. he is now a convicted felon, and the actual count that he plead guilty to was lying to the fbi on four separate matters. four separate occasions. and the real question in my mind was not so much, you know, what was the lie about? it was why? what was he trying to cover up?

jenny joyce in manayunk this morning, jenny, thank up.er in west philadelphia sending two teens to the hospital. steve keeley on this one, at police headquarters, what's going on, steve? >> well, when the calendar changes, going into 2018, police here at headquarters only hope it bridges a change in armed violence among teens along with the change in the calendar. because 2017 now in it last days continues a worse year ever level of shooting among the school age. here, from above, skyfox, 17 year old was critically shot here on the sidewalk, nine hours ago, along the 52nd street business stretch in west philly. police mark lot of bullet shells in front of lot of the storefront, different size shells, too, telling them that with two different guns were fired, also learned two different wounded teens were hit as well because they later found a 19 year old who had gotten to lankenau hospital with a leg wound. so, two more teens among the many in 2017 shot wounded and even killed in this awful year for people still in school. >> yes, unfortun

joyce, what is your opinion on it? do you think that dejuana has pia point?oint. there's this sense of responsibility that overarches everything else in the black community, in general. there's so much history in alabama and so much importance in having the vote and using it wisely. that's something that people think about. but katy, the large question you asked, i think, is a big curiosity. why do people vote against their own self-interest? why would women support a candidate who doesn't believe in them? that's something that we really need to confront in this country between now and the next series of elections in 2018. >> so dejuana, what's it mean for 2018? are we going to see democrats push forward more, black women, lawmakers, instead of asking for black women to vote for white men lawmakers km >> well, i can certainly tell you that the networks that i'm apart of are pushing more black independence structures to birth and to breed their own candidates, their own organizers, their own structures that create and sustain the platforms that we need to push

joyce, are you cringing with this interview? >> you're definitely cringing. you know, what strikes you most really is just a slap in the face, frankly, as someone who yorked in the justice department for so long is this idea that the president has absolute control over the justice department. and it's important to say that that is not true. although it might seem logical to people who have never worked inside of the department, that the president is the head of the executive branch gets to control what employees do, what separates the united states from a banana republic, from a dictatorship and while the president can direct justice department policy he doesn't get to decide who goes to law. the president's legal team i think has to be cringing tonight seeing this basic failure by the president to grasp how our legal system functions which really colors then all of the comments he makes. there wasn't collusion. if there was collusion it's not illegal. this is a president who just doesn't understand how the law works. >> and, joyce, it is glaring that michael
