this is the day for 4th of july parades. it in half moon bay. it's all about old-fashioned tradition. great turnout. it's really awesome. starting at noon and rolling down the town's main street for an hour and a half. the parade is always a crowd favorite. that's why michelle kelsey has walked the route 8 times with canine companions for independence. and these dogs are for people in wheelchairs. people are hearing impaired veterans as well as facility dogs watching from the sidelines. you quickly notice the amount of animals in the parade and how well represented agriculture is farm so you see the tractors. you see the horses. we've got great equestrians here, a farming community that was rocked when a mass shooting in january killed 7 people at 2 different farms in half moon bay. this is the first big event here since the gunfire and an important gathering for residents like linda, fresh who's been coming to the parade off and on for 20 years. this year is a pretty special year mean we all really need to care >> you so the community comes tog

and i'm julie julie haener. the big fireworks show in san francisco is just hours away and the city is ready. we have live team coverage tonight. our chief meteorology bill martin will let us know if we'll be able to see the show in the sky or if it'll be too foggy tonight. but first, we begin with our jana katsuyama. she's in ghirardelli square in san francisco. so, gianna, how's it looking out there? well julie, it's typical summer weather here in san francisco. we're just close to ghirardelli square. and if you take a look over here, you can see people who've come early get a gorgeous view of the golden gate bridge. still not fogged in quite yet, but a lot of people have been staking out a spot. you can see a little bit down towards the marina. they have a stage there with a band that's playing now. they've had djs and other entertainers, but definitely a lot of people said that they came here because they wanted to get a good spot for the fireworks. and many people we met were from out of town in la or fresn

today is monday, july 3rd. let's get right over to roberta who is covering today's weather and the important 4th of july forecast. yes, indeed. in fact, we see a big time improvement in our forecast. the hottest day so far this year was 107 in livermore. that was on saturday. today, suitable temperatures for summer after the early coastal clouds began to wipe away sunny and nice. there to warm and summery inland . this is our live weather camera looking at the stream of clouds that have pushed into san francisco from the immediate sea shore. it's a shallow deck of clouds. visibility, however, has been hampered in half moon bay, improving in santa rosa at six miles, at 56 degrees. currently in the mid 50s from hayward through castro valley, where high temperatures today will top off in the mid 70s, a little bit more seasonal. and throughout the tri valley back in through antioch, just a couple of degrees above average, 87 in san jose and 70s and 80s will be coming around the peninsula. as sal was alluding to. we

we do begin this fourth of july on a somber note. two deadly mass shootings in america in a year which has seen a staggering rise in gun violence across this country. disturbing surveillance video shows a gunman opening fire in philadelphia as police investigate a shooting rampage targeting random victims on the streets and in their cars, killing five people, wounding two young boys. the victims killed are between the ages of 15 and 59. the suspect is now in custody. police say the alleged shooting was carrying an ar-style rifle and wearing body armor. authorities are also investigating a deadly shooting in fort worth, texas. searching for suspects wanted for killing three people and wounding eight others there. this holiday also marks one year since the horrific parade shooting in highland park, illinois. a community holding a ceremony and moment of silence honoring the seven people killed. president biden calling out the mass shootings in recent days, urging congress to pass tough gun control legislation. so far this year, there ha

nice weather for fourth of july. we will see the fog spreading inland late tonight after the fireworks displays are done. clear skies overhead for the evening hours before the fog takes over later tonight. it will back up pretty early by 9:00 or 10:00 at the latest. no sky july is in full effect along the coast. you will not see much sunshine through the rest of the weekend into the weekend. anywhere from 50 degrees in santa rosa to the least cool spot in antioch tonight, but just comfortable temperatures areawide. our highs will be several degrees below normal. santa rosa only reaching into the mid-70s. the fog takes longer to dissipate in the valleys of the north bay. your temperatures will be closer to 10 degrees above normal and also closer to normal in concord but that still puts you close to 80 degrees tomorrow afternoon, so on the comfortable side of cooler than average. also close to 80 degrees in san jose. the fog should back up pretty quickly. we fill in the rest of the temperature map and we are looking at

now we're talking about 4th of july.affect us? because obviously it is back and today should be very similar to tomorrow. so let's do broadcast for today. just kind of show you have this marine layer moves in a minute. take you to the time of day will be similar to what tomorrow will our fireworks. i'm right at 9.30, and you can see some of that kind of moving into the bay. a little bit of drizzle along the coast. a kind of fills in as we get into the overnight hours. we wake up with that very present marine layer on tuesday morning. and then we kind of repeat the forecast. we're pulls away as we get into the afternoon and that starts to fill back in. so that does mean it is going to be a bit of an issue for us. as we look at our july 4th, fireworks here we are looking at about 56 degrees at 9.30, tomorrow night. we do have those fireworks starting partly cloudy skies and the marine layer will be with us to the question as always. if it sets up like a little to lower a little too high, sometimes it makes it a little bit

happy fourth of july to you. we are a few hours away from the highlight of every fourth of july which is of course the fireworks, but the question is, will the weather cooperate? >> and the answer is yes. if you are inland , but if you are coming to the show at fisherman's wharf, just look at the time lapse, that is from the top of the hotel, look at the cloud deck. with the sunshine, keeping it from going full strength, that is what it looks like on the golden gate bridge. and of course that tower , you can still see the whole thing. that is a good sign. because the tower on the golden gate bridge is about 750 feet tall. that means that they are not getting into the clouds, which means that the fireworks, if they don't go superhigh, you will be able to see them. but the cloud deck is likely going to be lowering over the next few hours. here's the take away, for the city is probably going to be another cloudy show. if you are inland, you will have a clear view of the fireworks , and temperatures will be in the up
