good evening i'm julie haener. >> and i'm frank somerville. a skier is hospitalized in critical condition after being buried in an avalanche. it took a rescue crew two hours to reach the man in the rugged terrain near the alpine ski resort. the crew had to ski before they could get him on a snow cat and get him to the hospital. he was then taken to the hospital in truckee. our ktvu director was one of the first on the scene. he spoke to a rescuers that painted a clear picture of what happened when the wall of snow came down. >> it was a pretty big slide. the victim, there was three guys and one was caught in the slide right from the get go and taken down the mountain quite a ways. probably 300 feet down. he was all messed up. he was pretty wrapped around a tree. and quite a few broken limbs. >>> the rescue team had to race against the clock to get the man out of the snow before dark. authorities have not yet released the man of the rescued skiers or the two men that were with him. we'll go live to the sierra, the avalanches the sierras face ri

good evening i'm julie haener. >> and i'm frank somerville. a skier is hospitalized in critical condition after being buried in an avalanche. it took a rescue crew two hours to reach the man in the rugged terrain near the alpine ski resort. the crew had to ski before they could get him on a snow cat and get him to the hospital. he was then taken to the hospital in truckee. our ktvu director was one of the first on the scene. he spoke to a rescuers that painted a clear picture of what happened when the wall of snow came down. >> it was a pretty big slide. the victim, there was three guys and one was caught in the slide right from the get go and taken down the mountain quite a ways. probably 300 feet down. he was all messed up. he was pretty wrapped around a tree. and quite a few broken limbs. >>> the rescue team had to race against the clock to get the man out of the snow before dark. authorities have not yet released the man of the rescued skiers or the two men that were with him. we'll go live to the sierra, the avalanches the sierras face ri
