we have justin andrews in fremont and lauren thoms at half moon bay . first let's go to meteorologist jessica burch with why today is a first alert weather day . >> we expect 2-6 inches of rain in most of the microclimates over the next hours. with all of the downed trees we have been seeing, think about it as we have been in such a drought that the trees are foldable and dry and it's easy for them to fall. this high wind warning concerns me throughout the bay area with wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour at times. look at what we see in san francisco in the next hour . the sa me trd atoad kland anmot diablo and it 'siminpactg the higher elevations in the lower elevations too. at the 10:00 hour and extending into the afternoon a different trend because the atmospheric river comes in the morning commute hours. the first alert weather day as we look at first alert doppler with widespread showers and heavier pockets of rain forming near san francisco, oakland and even friends into the tri-valley area . this will track east into the afternoon and pushes sout

justin andrews is near campbell. sean is in south san francisco where high winds blew the roof off of an apartment complex. i was talking to our meteorologist and she said the guys could have been 34 miles an hour to knock those winds off. >> yes amanda. they had to be an impressive level of wins. the winds are much calmer now. the damage shows you what we are talking about. you can see the pieces of the roof that have been come down. firefighters actually had to remove the roof because it was dangling down there. take a look at the video that we have for you. you will get a better sense of the damage. we are able to go outside and the residence allowed us to come into the apartment. there was still water on the floor. there was water that was leaking from the ceiling. they even had a container to collect the water that was coming into one of the bedrooms. neighbors who live in the area tell us that it was really just a scary scene to be here overnight. take a listen. >> to me it sounded like a car crash. it was real

justin andrews is in san anselmo. we are in studio with first alert meteorologist darren peck with a closer look at why we call today a first alert weather day. even though the storm is passed we are dealing with effects. >> we still have a little bit to go. there is a line of rain sitting off the coast. you see the band right there. you also see something we didn't have on the screen yesterday for this, more stray strikes of lightning. we are kind of in the last final phase of the storm where you get more instaby and better ingredients to develop thunderstorms. if we look close up, take it from the last frame. that line of showers, if we put it in futurecast, will march its way across the bay and stay with us through the morning commute. it's like both days have had the timing where they wanted to impact morning commute with widespread rain. this morning is going to be the same way though kind of the character of the rain will be different. this is going to be a pretty organized line that comes through. you will get

justin andrews is live in larkspur . what is going on out there? >> reporter: good morning ryan. localized flooding is the main concern at least in the north bay. i like that he said that because we are seeing the rainfall right now in marin county. look at the road here. this is just on the other side of the road here. larkspur creek is over here. that is what the county supervisors have been watching. flooding was a concern because you can tell from the sign that you saw in the shot, flooding this road was happening . that is why they declared a state of emergency last night to give the county an opportunity to be eligible for state and federal funds. the damage is pretty wide spread out throughout marin county. this is video from yesterday were tree crushed a home. it fell on top of that and left bad damage. along with the inches of rainfall we have been seeing, we saw flooding streaks, mudslides, for coastal erosion, flooded streets, power lines down. stents in the got bad. 22 buildings were left damage and another 45 structures had water damage. some of these could include s

last week justin andrews was in a place where businesses were racing for that potential flooding. he is live there again. what is the feeling this afternoon? >> reporter: i have talked to a business over named matt townsley. we are talking about creekside, he owns this. his building is literally built over the creek. even with the current rain falling right now, he says he has no fears. he says they are always prepared. here is a video of the creekside taproom. this is the place he owns. it has been here in downtown for about five years. he loves this community. he says every business knows this area. they are known for flooding because the creek bounces over its banks quite often. with the breaks in between the heavy downpours we have been experiencing, the creek has had time to recede. he is grateful for that. when i was here last week, every single business had flood walls and sandbags up. that is not the case today. there were a few sandbags here and there. what matt told me a little bit ago speaks for most businesses here. >> we are feeling quite blessed that we have not floo
