meteorologist justin drabick tells us what we can expect. >> well, we are watching a disturbance off the florida coast and it is sitting in a good environment. warm ocean water temperatures and light upper level wind. good chance of developing in the tropical system. if it does it will be first named storm of the season named arthur. where is the storm going to go? we have plotted models. most of them keep the storm off the the north carolina coast as it heads north east but it could be close enough to brush with us rainfall heading through hot holiday weekend. here's the track up toward north carolina and back out to sea. later friday we could see showers in here at the new jersey coastline. how much rain are we talking about? well, we will be combining this tropical system with a cold front, so majority of the rain stays off the coast but look at what happens up near delaware valley. a lot of this is from the front. this ace i potential two, maybe even 3 inches. cold front moves faster, then we will get less rain and push es tropical system out of here but for now here's what we're

meteorologist justin drabick takes a closer look. >> reporter: thanks, kathy.ers are in and the month of may is warmest on record for the entire globe. this map does show warmer then average temperatures in red especially over australia. western asia, and then through the united states. is there cooler air in the center of the country, but overall we are talking about above average temperatures. now, why? one of the biggest reasons was the ocean water, it is well above average throughout the entire globe. that helps maintain above average temperatures. when you combine the the ocean and land temperatures we will get 59.9 degrees, over a degree above average for the 20th century, pretty impressive. this is 351st conn techtive month where we have had global temperatures. here in the u.s. it was 302nd, warmest may ever, on record here in philadelphia we had a warm air, highest temperature was 88 degrees. we had 65 degrees, ape here in june, same deal, we are above average. i'm justin drabick in the cbs-3 studio. >> on the cbs-3 healthwatch tonight, warning about s
