news 13 justin hinton join us live from the sheriff's office in franklin. you've spoken with the boy's father. how is the child doing right now? >> justin: robert says his son has some swelling on his brain and doctors are keeping him sedated at this time. but christopher is surrounded by friends and family. this happened at his home in franklin around 1:30 yesterday afternoon. deputies tell us there were a few other kids in the house when it happened but no adults were home. they believe christopher thought it was unload when it went off. neighbors rushed in to help calling 911. he was treated on the scene and he is undergoing treatment at mission hospital. his dad says he's a great kid. he also tell us that two weeks ago was christopher's birthday when he turned 14. right now he's asking for prayers for his family, especially for his son. live if franklin, justin hinton, news 13. >> frank: a hiker was air lifted to mission hospital after a tumble in lynnville gorge. that happened around 11:00 yesterday morning. 60 miles northeast of asheville. authorities

justin hinton joins us live. primary? >> that's a good question. the judges said the current map must be redrawn within the next couple of weeks. early. mcnorthbounding? the redistricting from several years ago moved parts of asheville from the eleventh to the 10th district. presumably more black residents would be moved out of the 12th and placed in the 10. we spoke with david gant who said the new redistricting that has to take place is a win for everyone. >> you want your votes to matter. the way the general assembly drew the district they purposefully made people's vote such a high minority voter representation in the district. you can't do that. you have to spread everything out and give everybody a chance. >> justin: the gop chairman of the redistricting committees issued the statement saying we are surprised and disappointed by the decision but throws an election that's already underway into turmoil. this decision could do far more to disinfranchise north carolina voters. we'll bring you the latest development in the case that do arise. live
