i'm justine waldman. our top story right now is that it's day 3 of the oakland teachers strike does not appear as though an agreement is anywhere in sight between the district and the teachers union kron four's rob nesbitt has been covering the story since the first day of the strike. he joins off live so we can see how day 3 is going. house negotiations are going and if students will be back in class tomorrow, rob, that's the question. >> yeah, a question for a lot of parents. lot of teachers, it seems like negotiations have reached an impasse. the district says they want the union to come to the table to negotiate. and the union says the same thing about the district. neither side seems to budge when it comes to what's being called the common good goals. teachers picketed again today at school sites in oakland for the day. 3 of the strike. there are several things they want in their new contract, including those common good goals, improve services for students with disabilities, additional mental health

justin andrews is at skyline seeing more of the same thing. justin, this follows back and forth bargaining with no deal reached what are you hearing from the teachers? >> reporter: we were men'sing this morning that they are fed up. we are seeing more than two dozen are at skyline high schoo because they want better workin conditions. they chose to be outside striking instead of in the classroom teaching this morning. they are demanding better working conditions. unio leaders say teachers were waite for a promised counteroffer fro the district at 5:00 p.m. yesterday. teachers were willin to stay up all night to reach a deal. obviously this morning there is no deal. so, now, the district decided to strike. the district doesn't know how long it will last but it will continue to bargain with the union in an effort to reach an agreement. they are proposing a raise of 22% -- >> sounds like we lost justin there. we will keep going with it. >> reporter: so, the district i proposing 13 to 22% for every teacher depending on experience and one time bonu

and justin water is still with us. carmen, what can you tell us is happening down there?t now, there's a lot of fear, there's also a lot of confusion, so while you have some workers who have already left the state you have others wondering what they should do. this evening i spoke to an organization at homestead. which is an agricultural areas south of miami. and they said that this week alone, said members of the group left the state. and what's fueling a lot of the fear, the law itself is feeling the fear, but untapped that there is misinformation going around. for example, people are calling organizations like the one i spoke to, we count. asking about power of attorneys. because they think that they are going to be arrested. that they're going to be detained. and they want to have a close relative, or a close friend, standing by so that they can take care of their children. to take them to school, and take care of them. that's not what we're expecting to actually happen. another piece of misinformation that is creating even more fear is that people think that come jul
