our traders tonight, karen finerman tim seymour, john najarian and mike khouw. let's get to the big story. taper tantrum. it was a whip day for the markets. stocks and treasuries both initially sold off after the immediate minutes only to fully recover, then just selloff again. how did you trade it and what did you take away from the fed commentary. >> an awful lot of volatility today. bond markets, currency markets, everything moved a lot today. what i took away was actually i think the fed is less likely to potentially taper in september. i know the market took it a different way, but when i read the minutes and when i read the commentary afterwards, it seems to me that they're's one, data dependent. i don't think the data has been that great. they're looking at roughly a ten year economy. they're at 280, 290 at this point in time. it looks a little overdone. >> they're tapering but the timing. it feels as if they're more confused. >> i kind of disagree with beeks. they did say the economy is worse. they pointed out a lot of things. i think they're agreeing wi

let me start by opposing a question to karen chen from the public defenders office. karen, can you -- how about if you start by giving us an overview of how the city handles this conflict between treatment and civil liberties. >> an involuntary hold starts in san francisco when a peace officer or a clinician makes the determination that the person is due to a mental disorder, is a danger to others or danger to self or gravely disabled. gravely disabled means that person does not have the ability to provide for basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter. and the legal representation starts in most cases the first 3 days of the involuntary hold during the initial psychiatric evaluation and then the legal representation also continues with if the person is asked to be stayed or referred for further treatment up to 14 days. during this phase, the attorneys will represent the clients about whether or not they will have to stay on this hold, whether they have to take medications. if a person after at the end of the 14 day hold is found that may need further treatment,

the trade of the day, karen has the honor today, so, karen, film us in. >> for the trade of the day, been circling around for years, all the stars seem to be aligning. is corrections corps. we are on the short side here. the reason is sort of twofold. one is that we actually think we may have seen the end of the growth in prison population. there really is a push now. there was a speech by eric holder about how we can't incarcerate. it's too expensive to incarcerate, so these minor drug offenses, so we think that budgets don't really allow it and that the population growth will not even slow, turn negative and when you are making correction, if you make money on those incremental prisoners, that's a problem. so we have, that is sort of the big backdrop the second is, it's a reit now. they paid out of dividends, a one-time dividend. they are also a pretty decent yield, 5%. so that is a cost to the short side. we also sort of like the macronow of being short the reit space. we feel it's run up so much. if we do see inflation, we see yields higher, that will be inrate issive for this sp
