meteorologist, kari hall is tracking what you can expect today.r a red flag warning right now? >> yes, we are. the rest of the week we will be heating up, but we have a cool start to our morning, and into the afternoon. take a look at the wind speed forecast. we're starting out this morning, already gusting winds. most of us in the valleys already feeling the gusts, 15 to 20 miles per hour, and look at the bright colors here for the inland east bay. we're all up and down the diablo range. this is where we will have the highest fire danger today. with the northerly wind comes low humidity. winds at 35 to 25 miles per hour, and we may see gusts over 60 today, and still even into tonight and early tomorrow morning, it's still pretty gusty. we have a prolonged period of the high wind gusts, and you want to make sure even as you are stepping out this morning, everything around the house is secure and ready for the high winds today. our temperatures reaching into the mid and upper 60s for many of the microclimates. a few low 70s for the inland east bay

first our team coverage kicks off with meteorologist kari hall tracking it neighborhood by neighborhood. who is still seeing it all? >> the rain has cleared the bay area but we've been talking about what we've called the bomb cyclone for days now. and this is the reason why. as we loop the past 48 hours, we can see this storm intensify. it's called that because of the measures of low pressure in the center of the storm that dropped 24 millibars within the course of a day. when it intensified that quickly, we saw copious amounts of rainfall that happened to some tropical moisture and brought it right into the bay area. as we look at what's going on now, a lot of the rain tapering off but still that chance we could see a few spotty showers in the north bay as well as some other parts of the bay area by the next couple of hours. but, yes, take a look at the rainfall totals. all of this had to go somewhere. when it flowed down from mt. tam it went to a lot of the valleys and creeks and caused a lot of flooding. and santa rosa, over 8 1/2 inches of rain. oakland hills, more than 7 inches of

kari hall has been adding up how much we got last night. it's not a lot but we are excited and hopefully we're tracking a trend here. >> there will be a trend. what we got last night was not a lot and moved through so quickly. can you hang out longer? here's a look at the 18-hour loop and once again for much of the past several hours it was dry. quickly swept through the bay area. a lot spots in the tri-valley and parts of the south bay that didn't measure a lot. we have our next storm system coming our way. the long line of clouds and this one may have a lot more moisture associated with it and may move a lot more slowly which is going to be good for our rainfall totals. but we measured for some of our highest rainfall totals about a quarter inch in petaluma 0.1 and san francisco southward, less than 0.1 inch of rain. once again we're tracking another round of rain set to move in on wednesday. this will not bust the drought but may put an end to our wildfire season. we'll talk more about that coming up. >> looking forward to that. >>> you
