we'll get a check of the weather now with kari hall. looking ahead at the weekend's forecast, and of course, the week ahead, and if you are out there diving or anywhere near the ocean, today is a good day. >> it will be a beautiful day. it's going to be so comfortable, and we will take a look at all that's going on around the bay area. here's a look in fremont. it's nice and also not busy on the roadways. if you're heading out early, you'll have a nice and clear start. we're looking at temperatures in the low 50s. definitely some long sleeves to start out the. it's 53 degrees in san jose and oak. it's 52 right now in san francisco, and 54 in palo alto. while we do have some 40s in some of the valleys. for the south bay, we're looking at a high today of 81 degrees in morgan hill and east san jose, and cupertino as well will be at 82 degrees today in walnut creek and hayward up to 78 degrees. and for the peninsula, expect those high temperatures to reach into the low 70s. in san mateo, 73. also 73 in the mission district. and in the north

. >> we do have team coverage carting with meteorologist kari hall. kari, we're enjoying this break, but when does the second wave hit? >> we're going to see heavier rain move in later on this evening. it's pretty steady for the north bay. take a look at the san rafael camera right now. cars kicking up some water and some light showers coming down at this point. we'll continue to see this off and on for the north bay and then more hit-or-miss showers across the bay area. as we get a closer look, it's pretty much covering a good chewing of marin conte and across the bay and over towards vallejo as well. we'll see the rain continuing for the fairfield area and also farther off towards the south where we've seen some pockets of heavier rain. it lasts with 20 or 30 minutes before they move on. as we head over towards the marsh creek area and parts of the delta, we're also seeing some of those showers moving through right now. as we go through the time line of what to expect today. at 3:00 a lot of the bay area will not be seeing a lot of this rain. but the

let's turn to meteorologist kari hall for more. it's been raining as well. very light mist coming down and really not enough to measure or really help us out as far as adding on to the rainfall totals, but it's also fairly mild. the temperature at 61 degrees. as we take another look at patio, you do see that the visibility is clear, and the we've also been able to see a little bit of sun peeking through the clouds. temperature-wise we're in the low 60s. for most of the bay area, that's the trend throughout the day. we're up to 70 in concord and 68 in san jose while san francisco will be at 61. ht .. talk about when that sun peeks out and a warmup in the hrecast coming up in a few minutes. >> kari, thank you very much. >>> b.a.r.t. is being more cautious in the wake of the recent train robbery that involved dozens of teenagers. you might remember this from last weekend. on saturday night police say 50 teens jumped the gates and forced them to and over their .. ables once they got on the train. last night a lake merritt station agent saw four young fare jumper

meteorologist kari hall has been tracking the conditions all morning long for us. >> we've seen rain moving through the bay area, but much of that rain has been light, and it's really cool to see across all the microclimates. the way it looks outside as we get a view of all the different cameras. you see the cloudy skies over the south bay. every now and then some raindrops coming down, but we haven't seen a steady rain yet. it's 55 degrees. light showers in san francisco and also light rain in the north bay while the east bay is also seeing some rain at times, but nothing really heavy at this point. this is what the radar looked like. we see a little bit of some green dotted across the tri-valley and moving into the delta and some also low clouds and some mist and drizzle over san francisco and oakland. here's a look at the storm system. the center of that storm still well off to the west and out ahead of that we have a cold front that's bringing some rain across far northern california. as we go into this evening, this will be moving in, once again moving north to south. we'll talk

meteorologist kari hall. is this rain for all of us? >> it's not for all of the bay area. in fact, the south bay will barely see anything and the time line brings it in during the overnight hours so many people will go to sleep, and it will be dry and they will wake up and it will be dry again. we're going to see this quick one and done system rolling through. we can see it well to the north of us now. as we go hour by hour all day we are dry around the bay area with an increase in cloud cover startling out late in the evening for the north bay. we will have some brief heavy downpours for northern sonoma count de, and as it approaches santa rosa and becomes more scattered and also some scattered rain for nap ark. look at the time. it's 1:00 in the morning, and as it moves into san francisco, the east bay and the south bay, it really breaks up. this thing falls apart and will only bring some spotty showers south of the golden gate bridge. the next several days, more dry weather in the forecast, real el warming up. we'll talk about how warm in a few minutes. >> something to

let's turn it over to meteorologist kari hall tracking the activity for the rest of the day. >> kris and sam, that's what we'll see as we go through the rest of the day. mostly some sprinkles. this is not a very strong storm system moving through and we'll bring in more light activity, especially for the north bay and over florida, santa rosa as well as napa and fairfield. as we get a closer look now at the south bay we've seen some of the showers rolling on through but very light sprinkles and this is really just now to wet the roads. you turn on the windshield wipers and before you know it it's gone. we're also seeing the rain moving through vallejo and fairfield and parts of the delta near martinez and sonoma as well in the north bay. as we'll go through the rest of the day, mostly cloudy skies. more widespread rain returns later on today. going to see that shower activity developing once again, and this may bring some more measurable rain but not expecting any really heavy downpours, and then it tapers off for tomorrow. now that's before another round of rain moves in. we'll talk
