let's check in with meteorologist, kari hall, for what it's going to be like on this friday. ey, kari. >> hey, and we are going to start out with patchy fog. here's a live look outside in san francisco where this morning there's no fog, it's nice and clear here. but it has drifted into parts of the north bay. visibility is down to quarter of a mile in novato as well as napa. you want to allow extra time to get to work, but you also want to make sure you are preparing your home for the high winds. we will have a high wind advisory for all the areas shaded in orange, but we are concerned about the areas shaded in red, and that's when we will have a high wind warning going into effect starting at 7:00 this morning, and then continuing into early tomorrow morning. so we will talk more about those high winds. mike, you have been watching less fog on some of the cameras. >> yeah, less fog and less traffic. omicron is like our station, we're having folks distance a bit more right now, and smooth flow for the green sensors. we are zooming up towards contra costa where we see an early

meteorologist, kari hall, with us. good morning. >> good morning. there are spots dealing with so much rain and other areas are like, what rain? that's what we are seeing in the tri-valley and the south bay, while we are still getting light showers in parts of the north bay from napa and solano counties and down to san francisco and parts of contra costa county this morning waking up to showers. as we get a closer look at concord right now, between concord, richmond and oakland, we are seeing light showers moving through, and showers continuing in san francisco and up and down peninsula where we are seeing light rain moving through, and we will also continue to see some of the rain moving through throughout the morning as well as a chance for this afternoon. we're not done with this wet weather yet. we are going to see more as we go throughout the week. the good news is it's beneficial rain and not causing any problems. we will continue to monitor that and another look at the forecast, coming up in a few minutes. >>> today president biden meets with

kari hall has a look at what we can expect from the forecast. numbers. >> yes, absolutely. so we're starting out cold but then we see the temperatures warming up. and it looks like we'll have a pretty beautiful sunrise. so get the camera ready. we're just about 20 minutes away from sunrise, some of the sun is coming over the hills. in oakland, we'll see the temperatures reaching about 46 degrees to start, but quickly headed for the upper 50s and then low 60s for this afternoon at 1:00, we're at 60 and a high temperature of 62. 65 today in san jose, and that is one of the warmer spots, compared to the low 60s we'll see in antioch and 60 today in san francisco. mike, you are see something key spots starting to slow down? >> that's right. so we are seeing a little more commute i guess in quotes than we have the last month. one key spot though is because of a crash which has just cleared lanes in the last few minutes. it is on the shoulder with a lot of activity, still a distraction west 80 just past highway 4. we also see throughout that area, high

we'll start out with meteorologist kari hall with a look at the forecast for you today. starting out with carl in the back. >> yes, and we are going to see this kind of drifting around parts of the bay area. a live look outside in san francisco. we can see it is foggy, misting, drizzling and temperatures in the upper 40s year, but we do have upper 30s as you head to the north bay and also to the tri-valley. 37 in dublin and even cooler in morgan hill right now, 36 degrees and these temperatures will drop a few more degrees around sunrise. the fog is mostly in the north bay but it may continue to develop as we go into the next couple of hours. through the day it clears out and it will be a hazy sunshine once again, but temperatures warming up into the mid-60s. some of our inland spots will see upper 50s near the coastline. 57 in san francisco, 65 in santa rosa and in palo alto, a high of 62 degrees. these temperatures about what we've seen recently. we'll talk more about this and the rest of the forecast coming up. mike, the chp is very efficient. >> yeah, very efficient,

meanwhile, kari hall has been watching it. >> it started out so cold this morning. we saw the fog drifting around but now we have a hazy sky across the bay area. we take a live look outside in walnut creek. as you're getting ready to head out, grab the sunglasses and a live jacket. our temperatures have been quite chilly in spots. we're seeing the temperatures in the mid 50s, headed for the low 60s. a little more sunshine going into today. but overall, it will be a day where we get the hazy sunshine and temperatures staying on the cool side. only headed for the upper 50s and low 60s for today. a little bit cooler than normal for the last day of january. as we go into tonight, we'll see it dipping once again headed back for the upper 30s, and mid 40s for part of san francisco and the peninsula. we'll have the winds picking up. the wind advisory will be put out for midnight. in the north bay, the winds will be much greater, possibly increasing to 60 miles per hour over the next couple days so be prepared for the potential downed trees and power outages, and unfortunat

kari hall. nice to see you in the evening. >> ladies night here. >> it's the weekend.looks like it's a dry one. >> it will be dry. the rain that we saw move through is out of here. if you are going out for dinner, take a live look outside in dublin. see the headlights traveling westbound. the fog will settle in by early tomorrow morning. look at the system. this loops the past six hours. we can see all of the rain that is now to the south of us with clouds left behind. it's starting to clear to the north. you may be wondering, how much rain did we get? that highest rainfall total was mount tam. an inch and a half of rain there. head to santa rosa, a tenth of an inch. less than that for san francisco. most of us from san francisco on south ward had what we are seeing in livermore and redwood city. it wasn't really a strong system. now it is moving on out. if you are going out this evening, if you are going to be outdoors for dinner and also maybe heading out late this evening, our temperatures are now in the mid 50s. it's going to cool down fast with the clear skies. we

meteorologist kari hall is in with a closer look. >> good morning. yes, we're starting out with a couple of spriengs in spots, otherwise patchy fog and then as we go into today, we'll continue to see that sunshine in the forecast later this afternoon. tomorrow, more sun and the dry weather continues for the rest of the week. we have this weak storm system passing by but a lot of dry air. we're seeing rain on the radar but it weakens and dries up before it makes it to the ground. as you're heading out the door for the commute this morning, looks pretty good through the trivalley. mike, you were saying that you may have a car in the water? >>> yeah, sounds dramatic, kari, that detail, let me show you on the peninsula. this is northbound 101 if you're familiar with the area around candle stick park, i marked it on the map. you know how the road slopes down toward some shoreline and folks pull over there and do the fishing? that's where a car is, and it may be touching the water there. it's not a major crash, no injuries are rescue efforts going on there

let's check in with meteorologist kari hall for a look at that forecast. >> yeah, laura, we've seen the showers just off and on throughout the morning and so as we are heading out and about, we are seeing that there is a lot of clouds and also some wet roads in some spots after some early morning showers. but, wow, that's a pretty cool shot we have there at the golden gate bridge. we've also seen some off and on light rain and it's starting to taper off. stormranger showing the activity there once again some very light rain moved through this morning but was very beneficial with some spots getting 0.3 to about a quarter inch of rain. as we widen out the view, still a lot more activity going on. some of the heavier rain targeting the pacific northwest and far northern california as we're just getting the edge of that with some lighter showers moving through. and now we're starting to see some of the breaks in the clouds as we take a live look outside in san jose. we will continue to have a day where we do get some peeks of sunshine but it looks like the rain is going to continue to taper

kari hall is watching it all. >> it's like some spots in the bay area have sunglasses on while others are basically wearing a hood and you're in the mist and drizzle. we're seeing all kinds of weather and clouds in the east bay as we take a live look outside in walnut creek. as you get ready to head out for lunch in sonoma, expect it to be cloudy and maybe even misting at times. our temperatures are definitely warmer than what we had over the weekend. it's 53 degrees right now. we're headed for the upper 50s. some peeks of sunshine as we go into late morning or late afternoon, i should say. now as we get a look at the hour-by-hour forecast, the rain comes back on friday so here we are early on friday morning. starting to see those scattered showers around ukiah and santa rosa and then it quickly spreads across much of the rest of the bay area by friday afternoon. but it does clear in time for the weekend. and it's moving through so quickly that we're not expecting a lot of high rainfall measurements out of this. take a look at what this computer model shows. the possibility of getting

. >>> so you may have noticed kari hall was out for a few days. that is because she and her family are adapting to a new normal at home. you were kind enough to share with us that your daughter bella who has autism is suffering from severe food aversion. she now has a little feeding tube as we can see there. she is still smiling. she is back at home after a few days in the hospital. this must have been really hard for your family, nerve-racking. how is she doing? >> she is doing better now. yeah, we went through that for a whole month before we were able to get her admitted into hospital. it was just like one day she was eating, picky eater, but then one day she just stopped. and so it just got really bad for a while to where she wouldn't even swallow anything and she became dehydrated. we did have to get her put on the feeding tube after a lot of tests were run and now she is doing much better. she is getting nutrition, her energy back, and it is so good to have her home and also back at school today. >> oh, wow. back at school. they bounce back

. >>> we want to go back to meteorologist kari hall who has a beautiful weather picture behind her, but we have some breezy conditions we'll see later today. >> yeah, kris. i've been keeping an eye on this flag on top of the building in san francisco that is really waving quickly in all of these high winds that we've seen. and so as those winds continue to pick up, we're also feeling that not only in the upper levels of the atmosphere but it's really coming down to the surface. and so now we have these wind advisories in effect for pretty much anywhere across the bay area except for santa clara county where we have those mountains, those hills on either side of us and that's sheltering us from those higher wind gusts. but a lot of those winds picking up for the santa cruz mountains. parts of the east bay and especially the north bay where we haven't even reached the peak of this wind event and we're starting to see the winds at 30 to 40 miles an hour in parts of the north bay. notice the areas in red. that's the coastal range for marin county and sonoma county over around mount st. hele
