and i want to go over to kari hall now, who has a look at the rain here in the bay area. now? kari. yeah. cinthia. we are under the microclimate weather alert as the rain is already starting to pick up around the bay area. as this storm system moves in, the rain will get heavier over the next couple of hours. so a closer look shows all of this activity. the yellows and the reds. we know that that indicates some heavy rainfall, but the weather service also warning about the potential that some of these thunderstorms that develop late morning into the afternoon may rotate and that could create some wind damage or possibly some tornadoes. so we'll be on the lookout for that. and storm ranger is tracking it all, giving us a very high detail. look at the rain picking up in half moon bay and pacifica moving through the peninsula, and that will be also pushing into the east bay over the next 20 to 30 minutes. so looking at all of the widespread steady rain for the north bay, we know we don't need all of this, but it does continue for today. and then looking at oakland, where the

meteorologist kari hall tracking those conditions for us. and kari really sounds like anyone planning to head over there to tahoe should leave sooner rather than later. yeah, there is a little bit of a window now where we've seen a break in the rain and snow, and mike was telling me that they are screening for those tire chains on us highway 50 and 80. so we are going to have to watch out as the conditions will change very quickly throughout the day. and as of now, we are seeing not much in the way of rain or snow. but this is what's ahead over the next few days, as we go throughout the week, we are going to see up to 23in of snow for south lake tahoe and 48in of snow for kingvale. there may be even more for the northern sierra, so once again, those conditions will be changing quickly going into the afternoon as well as later on tonight. we're also going to see the rain returning for the bay area going into this evening, and it may be heavier than what we've seen over the weekend, especially for areas south of the golden gate bridge that rea

meteorologist kari hall is timing out all of this for us., let's turn to today in the bay's ginger conejero saab. she's live up in santa rosa. what are the conditions like right now? well, the rain has picked up quite a quite a bit or a little bit, i should say, actually. laura marcus, good morning to you. we're live from downtown santa rosa. it has picked up a little bit on and off from the last hour that we, that we had our that we had our report. but you can see it's still not really that bad. take a look behind me. just a few kind of puddles on the road, some wet and slick roads for the cars that have been passing by this early morning. that is, however, not to say that it hasn't rained in parts of the north bay since yesterday and caused some more kind of potential damage. i want to show you some video from healdsburg, where there was some heavier rain that caused mud to slide down north fitch road, an area of north fitch was coned off. officials closely monitoring that situation to mitigate any sort of growth of mudslides. yesterday, t

but first, our team coverage kicks off with meteorologist kari hall. she's tracking it all, and we've seen this round of rain coming in very quickly and producing some heavy rainfall. we've already had some flood advisories for san francisco and parts of san mateo county as well. and we've seen some of the lighter rain that still continues. it's been very steady for the north bay, but we've seen the biggest impact south of the golden gate bridge over the past couple of hours, and we're still seeing the after effects of all of that rainfall. as we track it with storm ranger, we can see that it is pretty much covered with rain. all across the bay area. we had some pockets of heavier rain earlier this morning, but that has since moved off to the east, and we're still watching out for the possibility that some of these downpours may also come with some rumbles of thunder and some gusty winds. we also have a wind advisory in effect. so a lot of impacts here as we see this storm system moving in very quickly. and that widespread rain all across the bay area.

meteorologist kari hall is timing it all out for us.ut first, we turn to today in the bay's ginger conejero saab. she is live in santa rosa. rainy, where you are. just a bit. not too bad. good morning, laura and marcus. at least we've seen worse kind of downpours from the atmospheric river rains before storms. but we're just kind of seeing some puddles here behind us. we're in downtown santa rosa. i will say that getting out of the house in san francisco and driving up here on the on 101 at times was a bit worse. so kind of off and on as far as the strength of that rain, that's not to say that it hasn't been raining in parts of the north bay, specifically in areas like healdsburg where we saw some of the effect of that rain and what it did. here's some rain that caused mud to slide down north fitch road, an area of north which was coned off, and officials were closely monitoring that situation to mitigate growth of those mudslides. the slides were dodd around 8 p.m. last night, not far over in windsor, a car hit standing water on east s

here's meteorologist kari hall.g through the bay area, and we will continue to clear out as we go throughout the day. a look at our high temperatures that will be about the same today and tomorrow, reaching into the mid to upper 50s, as well as a lot of sunshine in the forecast, but it will be cold in the overnight hours and there will be frost advisories for the bay area and freeze warnings for the north bay valleys. and then after that cold start, we see a nice recovery on sunday. look for highs in the upper 50s. and this is going to be what we see, at least into the middle of next week before the next storm system comes in. it will be nice to have some dry weather in time for our weekend. we'll take a look at that extended forecast coming up in the next 30 minutes. thanks, kari. this week's storms were deadly in the north bay. two men died in separate incidents. one in calistoga, one in sebastopol. now, people across the bay area are trying to clean up and get ready for next week's storms, as nbc bay area's bob r

meteorologist kari hall is monitoring water levels. but let's start out with today in the bay's ginger conejero saab. she is live in guerneville. and ginger, you can really see the impact of the storm where you are. that's right. good morning. laura and marcus. and guerneville is not a place that doesn't see flooding. i mean, they usually do see flooding with some of these big storms. but the last time that we were even here, the water didn't come this far out. i want to show you a look kind of how how much water is on this road that leads into a park and into those homes. you can see there's a car that's still there. it's about halfway on those tires, though. the water comes about halfway on the halfway up on those tires. you can see that garbage truck there in the middle of the road. and moments ago we spoke to a gentleman who says that he lives nearby and says that police you went went through the homes and the units one by one, trying to make sure that everybody got out. this is also something else that i wanted to show you, which

meteorologist kari hall is tracking where the rain is now and how long it's expected to stick around. well, as we typically see with atmospheric river, sometimes it can move up and down the california coastline while blasting all of that rainfall along the coastal areas and into the hills and mountains. it has now since lifted to the north. and so we're getting a bit of a break, with the exception of the north bay, where we have seen some light showers here and there. but overall we are seeing some cloudy skies and some hit or miss showers as we track it with stormranger. that's our mobile doppler radar. you can also see what stormranger is scanning as you look at the nbc bay area app. and then we're going to see the rain picking up as that atmospheric river starts to dip back into the bay area. later on this evening at 10:00. most of us are getting some rain, but it looks like it gets heavier during the overnight and into early tomorrow morning, and in spots in parts of the south bay where we didn't get so much rain over the weekend. this may be the focus for some of those heavier do

meteorologist kari hall is tracking additional storms on the way. but first, we want to go o over to nger conejero saab. she's in santa rosa for us. and, ginger, i know you spoke with at least one rescue team out there, and you saw at least one rescue taking place in that high water. i mean, it's dangerous out there for some folks. it is marcus and laura. it's been a very busy 24 hours for first responders. we're seeing a break in the rain right now. the sun is actually out. despite it still being a little chilly out. but this was preceded by hours and hours of rain that led to mandatory evacuation orders and at least three water rescues, according to sonoma county fire department this morning. i want to show you some video of one of them. this is the one that you were referencing, marcus. there was a car that stalled in the middle of standing water over in guerneville. now, locals called for help immediately, and first responders were able to safely get that vehicle to more shallow water and get the driver out of the car. now, we caught up with the

meteorologist kari hall is here, and it's kind of nice to see. yeah, it does look nice there. and we are going to see much more of that going into the weekend. there's still some lingering showers in some spots. but take a look at our temperatures right now. still on the cool side. and actually it won't really rise too much from where we are right now. and looking at the satellite and radar, there is some rain very close to san francisco, even just to the south of there. and we can see this one last wave coming from the coast and making its way into the peninsula as well as the south bay. and we've seen the rain off and on for the north bay. so storm ranger gives us a closer look. if all of this activity in some spots from half moon bay to san mateo, the rain is really coming down, and that's going to be moving closer to woodside within the next few minutes. but we're also getting some really heavy rainfall in morgan hill and gilroy. so once this moves out, we are in for sunshine and cool temperatures, and we can expect more of this into the weekend. we'll talk more about that
