kasich: let me just tell you.spending, there isn't much difference between republicans and democrats. republicans just feel guilty when they spend too much. there has not been some sea change. when we were working on this, i was offering budgets -- my own budgets against the republican president. this has never been something people have been into probably since the 1950's. i don't know. the key is to restructure government and have economic growth, but economic growth isn't enough. the bottom line is there are ways to do this and if i were a enterprising, young democrat or republican, i would probably form a team with somebody across the aisle and say can't we do something about this? it doesn't get done overnight, it gets done over a period of time. beyond being rewarded for it, you look in the mirror at the end of your service and think, i did something good. jason: you have talked at length about where the republican party is now, maybe not the party you joined those many years ago. has the party gone too far

john kasich is irrelevant.mebody who has won a primary or elected a president? when john kasich was tailor-made to men in hampshire and coming only a 15% there. he only got 5% in south carolina and about it. parade in arizona he finished behind marco rubio, who had already dropped out. he's relevant in the 2020 conversation. some could get in and be relevant, but he's not one of them. right now, probably nobody because donald trump is going to be the nominee. i think depending on what happens moving forward, you've had people who have decided at this point to the presidency. you don't have to accomplish what i want to accomplish. right now i think it's a silly conversation have. for anybody to making comments like "be careful what you wish for," they are in search a camera. >> melissa: i think he loves it. harris could tell us better because she was right there. he would love a fight. >> harris: i think it's an opportunity for him to go down his checklist of things that he has accomplished. i also think -- and

what better time to get perspective from john kasich? i spoke with him a short time ago.sich, what do you make on friday's ruling on obamacare? >> well, what i'm most worried about, john, is the fact that you have a lot of people that could have their healthcare ripped from under them. it doesn't mean it's perfect. it isn't. even the medicaid expense is not perfect. we tried to make improvements so people could still have care and yet we could reduce the cost. let's be clear, there are other ways that you could reform that program. to take it away, what are you talking about? are people going to lose lifetime limits? if you have a sick child and you could go bankrupt if there are lifetime limits that are too low. pre-existing conditions. it does threaten people with pre-existing conditions. if you work for a large employer, how will you be impacted? obamacare had an overlay over essential health benefits. that was really important. as of right now, the program continues. look, any time there is a threat of people losing their healthcare, it's like a cloud over their heads
