kate larson joins us with more. kate. >> reporter: well, cheryl, right now alamo square park is fenced off and behind that fence is a muddy mess ever since they started their construction project and of course all of this rain that we have had this winter. that, however, has not stopped the tourists who have come from all over the world. there is a family that i just spoke to from france. of course, everyone wants to get a glimpse of the famous painted ladies in the full house opener, however, the view not quite as spectacular because you can't get into most of alamo square park. take a look at this, most of the park is fenced off except for a small section. this was closed off last may, the san francisco recreation and parks department says the project which includes a restroom renovation and irrigation overhaul should be complete by early this spring, however, neighbors who live here and see this park every day are skeptical about the timeline which they say has already been pushed back because of course, the weath

kate larson is live outside the ninth circuit court of appeals in san francisco with the very latest on this. kate. >> reporter: dan, kristen, this is the latest legal brief that just came down this afternoon from the trump administration. the question has been whether to enforce or suspend president trump's immigration ban, and that's what the ninth circuit court of appeals right here across the street will be deciding. on friday when james robart, a federal judge in seattle, issued a broad order blocking key parts of president trump's immigration order, he set into motion a chain of judicial decisions for the ninth circuit court of appeals in san francisco. >> and right now the state of washington has made a pretty good showing of inrep rabble harm. >> reporter: he says the trump administration is facing an uphill battle to convince the judges they should allow the travel ban to continue. on saturday the ninth circuit judges, who are in san francisco, phoenix and honolulu, denied the trump administration's original request to vacate the stay. the trump administration's final appeal

kate larson in san jose to explain. kate? >> yes.atasha and reggie, the post office is hopping on this monday morning. it has been busy many mornings the past month. many of the people telling me that they have been waiting in line multiple times for weeks. sarah told me this is her fourth time at the post office. she's called multiple times just trying to get a passport so she can travel to the uk. similar stories all down the line. while this line may not look massive, about 20 or so people, some of these folks are getting multiple passports for children and other family members, which means this line is almost full because, as you can see here, the post office can only accommodate 30 passports a day, whether it is a new passport or a renewal. there has been a rush at these passports here in the northern california area and all across the country. some people are acontributtribi to president trump's immigration plan. others attributing it to the fact it's been ten years since a new law was enacted that you need a passport to get to

abc 7's kate larson is live in san jose to explain why they're there so early. kate?well, natasha, reggie, there are a dozen or so people at the post office in san jose on branham. not all the people are just here for their passport. some are trying to renew or get passports for their entire family. the problem, the passport offices, as this note on the door explains, can only accommodate about 30 passports a day. already, we're at more than 20. it is 5:30 in the morning. the office doesn't open until 9:00. there have been reports of these busy, busy passport offices here in california and around the country since the beginning of the year. many of the people we've spoken to in line have been to passports all over san jose multiple times. they got up at 1:00, 2:00 this morning to be here to ensure that they got their passport. there are many reasons this is happening. part of it may be anxiety after president trump enacted his immigration order on january 27th, making people want to ensure that they have a renewed passport. some of the folks i spoke to are just trying
