that might be picked by donald trump, and oklahoma attorney general, scott pruitt, and regulator kathleen white, and what do these two choices tell you about trump's plans for the agency going forward? >> both have been very outspoken, particularly about the clean power plant and the wetlands rule, but the clean power plant, scottruitt has been a leader in immobilizing the attorneys general in blocking the implementation of the rule. he has focused more on the lef legality more than the science, and kathleen has really looked at the legality and the science and you are starting to see mobilization by people -- democrats against them, and it will be a really interesting battle. obviously democrats can't fight every single cabinet nominee -- >> yeah, you have to pick and choose. >> yeah, they will have to pick their battles. exactly. that's something they will have to decide depended on who is selected and pruitt is not as well known i don't think in washington circles, so that could be a plus or minus in terms of trying to depict him of being quote or unquote anti-environment. >> chuck, thank yo

the epa has a responsibility by the way of kathleen white the epa administrator i'd have that tomorrow. the epa has a responsibility to be open and transparent with the people it serves and whose money it spends. enacting this important reform will be a key priority for the science committee in the next congress. president obama chose to circumvent congress at every step implementing his environmental agenda. he enacted regulations opposed by american people, negotiated climate deals that damaged our economy without consulting with congress. i look forward to working with the new president, president-elect trump restore transparency and reshape epa into an accountable science focused agency dedicated to a core mission of protecting our environment. again, thank you for all you do, everyone in this room. thank you for every member of the heritage foundation, every member of texas policy foundation, public policy foundation for all they have done to get the facts to the american people. help us achieve a point where we will have reliable and inexpensive energy. that concludes my remarks.

kathleen, do you want to kick us off? >> thanks for all your hard work. i wanted to start with the latest reports on the russia hacking story. as the white house been told vladimir putin was personally involved? >> i do not have an additional intelligence assessment to share from the podium. as we have seen in the last several days, there are officials in the intelligence community who apparently are calling all of you to anonymously share their thoughts and conclusions and opinions. i think what is relevant at this point is to consider the statement that was made back on october 7. this was the statement issued by the intelligence community. it reflected a unanimous opinion and conclusion of all 17 intelligence agencies, and they reported publicly that russia cybergaged in malicious activity to erode public confidence in our democracy. they included another sentence is worthlieve repeating, so let me read it. that statement included in part -- we believe, based on the scope and sensitivity of these efforts that only russia's seniormost officials could have authorized these activities. that is the statement from the intelligence communit
