i'm kathryn bursch for 10 community. >>> good thursday afternoon to you. we are looking at mostly cloudy skies from our sky 10 network. unfortunately we'll see cloudy skies through the afternoon. you can see that on storm tracker 10. no rain yet. it will stay mainly dry today. we have moisture to our south. out in the western gulf of mexico we have a developing area of low pressure and a trailing trough. this will mean a big change in our weather as we head into early friday morning. in fact, storm prediction center put us in a risk of severe weather. a marginal risk. as we know from past events, sometimes they underplay things. the entire 10 weather team we have you covered. we'll be tracking this system hour-by-hour. the other big story of the day is hurricane alex. a hurricane in january. the last time this happened was in 1978. it is very unusual. it is very far away from us. it is 400 miles south moving north. in 36 hours it will degenerate. it is something more of interest than anything. temperatures cool out there. it is 59 degrees in st. petersburg

i'm kathryn bursch for 10 community. >>> we are looking at another soggy and dreary day. better. we are watching an area of low pressure in the gulf of mexico. lots of moisture across the bay area. eventually in time, this entire system will get that push to the south and to the southeast. we are going to see much improved conditions as we head into friday. zooming in to storm tracker 10 you can see light showers across much of the bay area. the strongest storms are just offshore. i put a tomorrow track on there for you. safety harbor 12:55. 3:00 to 4:00 we are clearing out. as we zoom into pinellas county you can see the heaviest rainfall stretching from indian rocks beach southward to north of the st. pete area. pinellas park, reddington beach you are seeing good rainfall as well as carrollwood and portions of lutz. intensity and coverage over the next few hours. the other thing we are dealing with is we have a dense marine fog advisory in effect until 4:00 this afternoon. we are going to be hard pressed to see much clearing at the coast at the beaches. again, maybe late this a
