meteorologist kathy orr is tracking a coastal system tonight. what's it looking like, kathy? seems early to be talking about that, chris, but it's not. on storm scan3 we're seeing the rain, it's south of delaware, south of maryland at this point but a developing coastal storm will continue to move up the eastern seaboard and as it does we will see more clouds and more rain, especially for south jersey and delaware. right now in extreme southern delaware seeing some rain. this is ground clutter right here to the north and to the west. this is the area of low pressure we are tracking. it will move toward the northeast. the winds around it dragging in the clouds with that on shore flow. the heaviest rain stays off shore. that is the good news but the wind will be picking up and the threat of some showers. right now we're seeing winds gusting close to 30 miles an hour in atlantic city, 22 miles an hour gusts in wildwood and even in philadelphia, this far inland seeing gusts to 23 miles an hour. coming up we're going to talk about the rain, when the sun will return. we have a brie

meteorologist kathy orr is tracking the wet weather and what it means for you. kathy?> right now we're looking at some cool temperatures as the clouds move in, chris. already down into the 40s in the poconos. 55 in allentown. 61 in philadelphia. it won't be as cold as it was last night because of the cloud cover. keeping those temperatures from really bottoming out. on storm scan3 there are the showers moving northward than eastward. it will take some time for them to move into the region. so in the morning between 5am and 9am we expect the rain to move in. scattered showers not a lot but enough to cause a slow down for the morning rush. between tenth and a quarter of an inch of rain expected. now, we're going to continue to keep an eye on that. tracking the showers. coming up we'll take look at when the sun returns how long these below average temperatures last and a sneak peek at the weekend weather. all of that later in the broadcast with the seven day. >> kathy, thanks. >> $40,000 reward is offered in the shooting death of a pregnant frankford woman. her baby deliv

kathy orr is standing by with the first forecast.. >> right now, chris, we're looking at some mild temperatures across the region. in some spots, that is. philadelphia we're at 78 degrees but look at millville, only 69 and the poconos at 58. so, a sharp contrast from north to south with millville our usual cool spot with light winds and some clear skies. we are talking about clearing skies across the region and with al light northwesterly wind, we could see some areas of fog especially in the poconos, so please be aware of that. and as we continue to progress through the week, it's going to be heat but also humidity that makes a comeback and here's a look at how it will feel. now, during the day tomorrow a little bit on the humid side but by the time friday and saturday roll around, it will be feeling oppressive and that means that sent sizzle will be getting under way. so, this is what we have to talk about in the seven day. the heat will be peaking this week. that means more storms and it will be feeling like september by the time

. >> reporter: good evening, kathy. in rain yet but in the best beach day here in atlantic city but wind is the the problem, how long out of the north east. you the can see roughed up, waves three to 4 feet and increasing through nighttime hours. off shore buoys 10 feet well off the new jersey coastline. the coastal flood advisory will go into effect tomorrow morning. we are talking about a potential for tidal flooding as this storm does a approach. beaches have been desserted all day to day and that is pretty much for good reason a lot of clouds today and windy conditions, and only a few people were able to venture out on the beach. surf is choppy. waves could reach five to 7 feet and certainly we will see high risk for rip currents. there is also a possibility of minor coastal flooding around times of high tides. while the heavy rain is a concern emergency management officials say resident also need to think about the gusty winds. >> people really need to look around their yard and porch that if they do have things su

meteorologist kathy orr is tracking it all for us. she joins us now. >> we are already seeing the high clouds lifting up from the south, jess today. that's just a small part of this puzzle. we're watching an area of low pressure develop off the coast of the midatlantic, already bringing some very heavy rain there. as far as we're concerned during the day tomorrow the clouds will increase. this area of low pressure will be riding up the eastern seaboard and by tomorrow evening, we'll be seeing the rain moving up from the south. now, the heaviest rain is going to come around 7:00 a.m. thursday morning right in time for that morning commute. not just heavy rain but also very gusty winds. and as that storm pull asway, still some lingering showers and additional wind to contend with with our first real coastal storm of september and into the fall season. rainfall amounts when we look at all of our computer models between one and 2-inches of rain but it's not just going to be the rain. we're also going to be talking about the wind. coming u
